I'm with you,,, but beyond that,,, how the flying F are we still in this boat year after year?
Dude, it’s beyond me. They could’ve easily drafted a 6th round kicker, brought in a RFA and anyone of these “veterans”.

Are you under the impression that he was blocking for his own kick? I guess he should have thrown the block and then run back to make the kick?
The blocking and the distance on the kick aren’t the same. Don’t bring up the distance if the blocking is the issue

Heard the boys made the mistake by letting him go. Now mind you we don’t know what we have but I am willing to roll the dice.

well give us some more context I mean how long were the field goals how well was the snap in the hold?? However Brett Maher last year finished off the season great 90% kicker he was not missing field goals he made his last field goal an extra point in the 49er game so let's change the title he had problems with extra points in one game basically one bad one in the Washington game and it led to the Tampa Bay game but we didn't lose a single game because of him and his field goal kicking has never been an issue... Thanks for the report though I'll worry about it we see him kicking the regular season once you get comfortable with the new team we'll see how he kicks but it doesn't look like the other guy is doing very well either/..

real story; Brett Maher missed a 47-yard field goal wide right, then had a 52-yard field goal blocked. blocked on long kick OH NO
So you are even going to twist this to attempt to soften the negative narrative of Maher's playoff performance and then missing two kicks this week? I know you just argue to argue, but you know he missed a total of 5 kicks in 2 weeks in the playoffs don't you and also missed an extra point in the last game of the regular season? That's a seasons worth of missed kicks for top kickers in the most important games of the year. I guess you are the fantasy football type that is happy with a guy if he does well in the regular season and don't care about the playoffs. Also, in the SF game we went for it on 4th down at the end of the half on 4th and 4 because everyone knew he wasn't likely to make the kick. Bizarre dude.

Stop trolling me son

that's all you're doing is running around trolling me go away..

I've ignored you to a point where I may have to officially ignore you

get over it I have an opinion and I'm telling you Brett Maher was our best shot this year and yes there is always context just like on interceptions and other plays that have Gray area like a fumble was it was it the handoff was it the player we need context when people miss a field goal there is mechanics that are involved we call it the procedure of the snap the hold in the kick so yes I'm 100% standing hot behind my statement so go take your bizarro world statement back to bizarro world you're bizarre you can't handle that I have a differing opinion than you and you you just keep coming at me and I'll keep coming back at you get over it our kicker on our team right now is not as good as Brett Maher was last year and Brett Maher will get through the mental part which he already did he made his last extra point and field goal last year, he made his two extra points this year in preseason,, field goals were not his issue last year so I will give him the benefit of the doubt yes..

so yes there might be an issue with the whole and the snap on this particular series we're discussing.. Sorry if that confuses you that people want to see contacts before they make snap judgments,

Hey dopey, you quoted me!!! So are you going to ignore me or keep coming back at me? You are all over the place as usual

Of course I knew you thought Maher was our best shot. All you do is try to twist things on here to argue your stances whatever they are and you never give in or admit you are wrong so obviously you were a Maher guy. As far as our current kicker goes, I don't think I read anyone on here state he was good or argued that he should be our regular season kicker. But, he is here over Maher because Maher proved he can't do it when it matters and that's a pretty big thing in sports...

It's just too hard to find a good kicker but you have to keep trying. If Aubrey misses one kick/XP in the next preseason game, get him outta here and keep auditioning new guys. Bring in a few vets and other unknowns and maybe you'll get lucky. There are really no clear-cut options at this point - even the vets like Gould and Crosby come with big question marks and chances are you're more than likely getting them in decline at this point in their careers.

It’s pretty much what happened to Dan Bailey. Even that UFA K we started camp with last year Jonathan Garibay. In college, he was automatic. He had a 62 yarder to win a game. I saw him play in person in college and he was completely reliable.

But something happened in training camp last year when he missed a couple of mid range FGs. He lost his mental edge. And he still hasn’t recovered. He was not signed by anyone after the Cowboys cut him last summer. As far as I know, he’s not on an NFL roster. His slide was crazy. But it wasn’t his leg that was the problem. His problem is between his ears.
iirc Bailey hurt his groin decently, so it somewhat makes sense.
