Many want a true NT, but I think the team would want more of a interior pass rusher if they can find one. Problem is, not many in this class. Kancey has upside there, but he is looking too small to be able to become a three down player. Benton seems like the best, but he isn't considered a top interior rusher either. That's why they are looking at guys like Dexter and Roy.

Based on that play and that game Baldinger is talking nonsense.

Cowboys are using Nascar rush on that play and they wreak holy hell, despite the fact Vikes have four on that side to block just two Cowboys. There are maybe eight great bull-rushing DTs in the NFL. Unless they somehow draft Bresee (unlikely) in first round Dallas won't be adding one this offseason.

Kancey could be on the board at 26, but he's not a bull rusher. More a Osa+ type player.
That's the point. In order to try to generate some inside push in a passing situation, they've taken two DEs and put them at DT.

What he's saying is that the Cowboys have literally nothing inside that can collapse a pocket and make a play and as a result, they often have to slide Lawrence or another DE inside to try to generate pressure from the inside.

Well, he tested like a beast at the combine… but his tape leaves you wanting for more.

He would primarily be a pass rushing 3 Tech for Quinn, so basically like Kancey. He would probably play some base end in heavy formations.

At this point he’s not a great player. Can he become one? I really have no idea. If Dallas takes him then they must feel like he is a guy that could coach up and get a pass rush from.

I haven’t heard anything linking him to the team.

Hard to find DT’s when you pick late year in and year out.
If RB Gibbs and WRs Flowers and Hyatt are gone by the time the Cowboys pick at 26 comes up, I would trade down into the mid-to-late 30s (early Round 2) while securing an extra 4th round pick.

Then use that newly acquired early 2nd round pick on a DT.

Man that will be hard to wait 3 hrs for a trade out!

Hyatt at 26 would be soooo Cowboys.

There are times that the team often overreacts to things that happened the previous season. I worry they go balls to the wall in trying to grab so many weapons to try to help Dak after his up and down 2022 season that they neglect some things and half *** it at other positions.

Jerry said today they expect a rebound year from Gallup so I hope that means they aren't going to throw the 26th pick at a WR that isn't named JSN.

The problem with Cowboys FO and fans is that they want Aaron Donald or nothing

It is idiotic and stupid but that’s the truth

If we had signed Hargrave and drafted either Mazi or Benton we would have a very very good group of DTs but no, we are going to give an idiot like Diggs 22 million to make business decisions and yap all day but not spend resources on real DTs

I've seen mazi compared to dj reader and dontari poe and Daron Payne. Cowboy fans don't think either player is worth a 26th pick apparently. It's wild bro.

Folks inside the Michigan program gush about his strength and agility," Feldman says. "One NFL coach I spoke with compared him to former Washington first-rounder Daron Payne, who made his first Pro Bowl in 2022.

For those saying nobody compares him to payne. Argue with the NFL coach not me.

1 he’s painting an entire picture with 1 play.

2 pass rushing tackles are hard to find. You’re really just hoping you can find a guy to collapse the pocket

3 Minnesotas offense got shut down the last 2 times we played them.
Sure he is but I think he is just giving an example. It would take too much video to give a comprehensive explanation of the problem. But I think Cowboys fans are basing their opinions on a long history of interior line problems.

IYour point 2 is exactly right. We need someone to collapse the pocket.

Parsons, 13.5
Armstrong 8.5
Fowler 6
Lawrence 6.0
Wilson 5.0
Williams 4.0
Osa 4.0

The rest of the line isn't garbage! Cowboys #3 in all of NFL in sacks.
If you take Parsons out of the picture, I am pretty sure the sack numbers for everyone else will drop too. Perhaps garbage is too strong a term, but the interior of the Cowboys DL is deficient.

Everyone in the world has been saying this. When a team can triple team Micah, that means the rest of the line is garbage.
unfortunately DLaw has gone down significantly as pass rusher , we need Sam Will to take a leap this year, adding one more interior rusher or stout immovable DT will help also.

A few of us have been demanding we draft a very good DT early in the Draft for this reason.....Micah needs help on the interior of the Dline. Yet, so many want to get an Edge rusher...or a TE...or an Olineman...etc, etc.

Clueless.
I agree on needing a DT since like Jay Ratliff left….but I don’t see any in this draft that I think won’t be a bust….

Wow, some of us were correct in the Cowboys needing and taking a DT early in this draft!

@stilltheguru absolutely nailed it!!! He picked Mazi Smith as the DT the Cowboys needed to pick up!

I would have mentioned Mazi Smith, but I honestly didn't believe he had any chance to drop all the way down to pick #26 to the Cowboys. Very nice pickup. It's about time the Cowboys took DT seriously. This is going to help our Defense tremendously.

They need both TBH.
A decent pass rushing DT might get 10 sacks as a 4-sack talent guy because of all the attention teams pay the outside guys.
You need someone to impact the OL blocking inside.
A space eater is great for sure and MUCH needed on 1st down and short yardage but on 3rd down you need a guy that can win right at the snap and get upfield so teams can't full on cheat to Micah's side withotu getting the QB hit as he gets the ball.
It all works together.
Dallas has a severe lack of NFL caliber interior DL.
It is essentially two guys and 1 of those is DLaw who plays outside as much as inside because his body cant handle every snap interior play.
I know ideally you would want your 1st rd pick to be a 3 down player. One thing is that Mazi has great help on each side of him. The kid is a Dog and he is going to free up those other DE and Micha. Mazi didnt play with the talent that he will be playing with in the NFL. He loves football and he has Quinn after midway thru the season you will be ok with the pick.
