I'm curious what other players will be FA "next year". I'm sure there will be alot of them, one that comes to mind is Ed Reed. My point is, just because he hasn't resigned yet, means nothing. The Eagles and Dawkins have about a year to work out a contract. Plenty can get done in that time. IMO, his age indicates he won't be resigned. But then again, there is no successor waiting in the wings, which indicates he will be resigned. We'll have to see. Trashing the Eagles FO for not resigning him is baseless, because they have a year left on his contract. People were trashing them for not giving Westbrook his money this time last year, and then look what happened, he got it.

You can't deny the Eagles' "frugality" when it comes to paying their players.

There's plenty of history to back up the claim that they're a cheap organization and it doesn't need to be rehashed again.

The Eagles' organization and fanbase are among the most ruthless in the entire league.

When they see a player starting to slip, they don't hesitate to show them the door - and the fans follow along without question.

While I don't suggest that a team should retain every aging vet, I think there are exceptions that should be made for great team players. And the Eagles are the last team who would need the cap space they'd save by not re-upping a guy like Dawkins.

But it sure wouldn't be the first time that the Eagles said goodbye rather than taking care of one of their best, would it?

It depends on how well our committee of FS's do this year, but I would take him at the right price he's a beast in no way is he done

he's been great for a long time and i respect him probably more than i ever thought i could an Eagles player but HELL NO to him. Too old now and he had a bad year last year and so probably will only get worse this year, then next year even slower than Davis

He looked like he was moving in slow motion last year. The man is a shadow of his former-self. But we do agree on one thing: his play this season will speak for itself.

they won't resign him

he'll either sign with NY to pair up with Demps (they play different saftey spots, right?), or sign a big contract with an obscure AFC team

I was thinking New York, but I'm not so sure now, they already have a SS, which is the position Dawkins plays, and a pretty good one at that in Gibril Wilson

lol, damn, I thought he had a good year last season... maybe I was wrong, maybe when that defense fell apart is part his fault as well

I'd take Dawkins in a heartbeat!

If none of the Cowboys' current options "pan out", a pairing of Dawkins and Roy Williams at safety would be the best in the league.

Dawkins may be on the downside of his career, but the guy takes great care of himself and is a good team leader as well. He would provide teriffic stability in the secondary.

He seemed to slow a bit as last season progressed, but that could have been due to overall team play as much as age.

He turned in one of the most dominating performances I've seen in a few years in Week 1 vs Atlanta. He was all over the field.

I think he's got a few good years left and I would hope the Eagles make the mistake of not re-signing him.

while true, the same could be said for WIllie McGinnest, he takes great care of himself, had a good year last year, and would provide terrific stability in the LB corp, and him and Ware could be the best OLB tandem in the NFL, yet we didn't bid w/ the Browns for him, and I feel we won't bid big money for Dawkins either if it comes to that, which I think it will
