It would be nice if everyone was 27 and awesome. Just not the case.

I really don't have a problem with older players so long as they aren't viewed as long term options with big contracts.

Hatcher played well last year and doesn't come with a big cap hit. I don't think he's on the downside yet and even if he is, what he gave last year was well worth the cap money he took up.

If a guy's production outweighs his cap hit, age doesn't really concern me so long as the team doesn't think that guy will play for another decade.

When you're talking about planning your future and being proactive as a GM rather than reactive, age has to matter.

My point it we really don't have a single young prospect along the entire DL to get excited about for the future other than maybe Tyrone Crawford.

Brian Price is a man I'm rooting for but he's a lottery ticket. 99.9% of lottery tickets just say "thanks for playing, try again".

Agreed.

I would give him better odds than 0.01%. I would equate his odds to that of a mid to late round pick. Similar to the odds of Lattimore having a complete recovery from the drastic leg injury.

Edit: No, the more I think about it, I would give Price better odds since he played a complete season after the surgery. It appears his issue in 2012 was an emotional breakdown due to his Sister's death.

I've read a bit more about Price and it sounds like he is a prototypical 1-tech DT at 6-1, 305 pounds, 34 BP reps, 5.1 40 yard dash. This is our biggest hole right now on DL with Rat's health uncertain, Brent's legal status uncertain and Lissemore looking like a rotational player.

It'd be great to get Brent back and Price comeback and play like he is capable of given his draft status at the top of the second round for a NT. He is now a couple years post-injury so he is going to be fully healed and has had a chance to get his strength back.

My ideal 4-3 for next year would be: Spencer, Rat, Hatcher and Ware. Brent, Price, Lissemore and Crawford would offer depth and youth. I still think we need another young player at DE as a passrusher if Price turns his career around but we'd be looking a lot better.
