If things are the same as years past. It matters if they were hurt before or after training camp starts.

I think you overestimated his chances of contribution for the Cowboys. JMO, tho. He might have been a good pickup, but he never even made it to OTAs to even get a glimpse of what he could do for the team.
So he can't go to camp? I thought before camp starts the rules were different about injuries?AdamJT13;5082528 said:There is no way we would use our only IR/Designated For Return designation on Brian Price. The only way he can play for us this season is if he reaches an injury settlement with us, then waits six games more than the number of weeks' pay in his settlement. Then he can sign with us and play, if we still want him.
For clarity, I had no expectations for him whatsoever.FuzzyLumpkins;5082526 said:You said "why do we care?"
I think you overestimated him being off the team.
Cowboys didn't go the injury settlement route. They decided to retain him. He is eligible to go to meetings. He just cannot go onto the field until he is off IR.
The question is when is he able to come off. I cannot find that information and have not seen it presented though I am reading this godawful charter and tweeting various reporters.
The guy has played well in the NFL before and this club has had success with reclamation projects like this. Columbo is brought to mind as is Alonzo Spellman.
I have no illusions that he is going to be going to Hawaii but it is a position of need. I don't see how that is hard to get.
It helps us win ball games if he can contribute and that is all I care about.

I have gotten conflicting reports.
TheCount;5082568 said:How do you mean? I'm not sure I see why either one would matter. If a guy is under contract the following year, then he's on the roster. There is no maximum # of players till August (I think), so there'd be no need to even have an IR list till then unless you're sure the guy won't be playing anyway.

Dallas will be checking the waiver line towards end of preseason. Hopefully, they will be luckier than last year.
