The attitude of the OL seem to change with Waters. Not sure the severity of his injury. If healthy, should we bring him back for one more year?

I love how because of his age people completely forget he was one of the best players we had on offense last year, and he hadn't peaked yet.

Smith - Martin - Frederick - Waters - Free

That's leads to an offensive powerhouse.

I think Federick will turn out to be all the leader we need on the OL.

The OL will save Garrett's job or the Def will get him fired next season.
Actually, I have a funny feeling the Def will be better than we think. The noName D in Big "D".

I don't think Waters really wants to come back. He needed to get a surgery done in the off season to correct his bicep tear. I think that if he really was interested in coming back, he probably would have had that taken care of.

I think we probably need to move on from Waters. I like the player but if he doesn't want to play, then he doesn't want to play. Can't blame the guy. He's put in 11 years in the trenches. Maybe he want's to enjoy the fruits of his labors and that's understandable.

Very scary but how about?

I think that was the whole point of the Martin pick.

The OL was playing beautifully with Waters. The plan is for Martin to bring that same toughness, only at 14 years younger.

FWIW, Martin's nickname is 'the Butcher,' and it was given to him by opposing fans. That might make you feel a little better about attitude on the OL in general.

I see a lot of people dismissing Leary right now. I don't see it, I think JJ and company really like him and will give him every opportunity to be successful. Martin will play next to Fred and Free. If Free can play at a decent level like last year this oline can be really good. We know they will be using a lot of spread and Gun I would think the balance isn't going to be 50/50 I think it will be 60/40 65/35 pass/run ratio. We've seen nothing to suggest otherwise

The Cowboys get 5MM toward the salary cap in June from cutting Miles Austin, I always thought they would use it on the draft picks and Waters if they didn't come out of the draft with a lineman. If Donald fell to us I think they would have done exactly that but there is no need with Zack Martin as the pick.

At this point, the team is a lot better off using that 3MM late in the offseason on a FA at a different position than OL.

I have always felt as if the key to Free playing well is to put him next to a really good Guard. If he doesn't have to cheat to his inside, he's a pretty effective Tackle. He will never be a fixture in the Pro Bowl but we don't need that from him. What we need is good, efficient, steady play from him. If Leary can be a solid RG, then the selection of Martin really helps us in multiple positions along the OL. Imagine the left side of our line with LT Smith, LG Martin and C Fredbeard. Then imagine the addition of a good Blocking FB and Murray carrying the rock. That will be a a real problem for the rest of the NFL. You can no longer play the Cowboys for pass and ignore the running game. Martin is a difference maker and Bern can be a quality reserve. I just love everything about this pick. My hate is really off to the the Cowboys Staff for having the fortitude to make this pick.

I would assemble OL as if Waters is retired. If he decides to get surgery and join team during season...then you make room for him.

He hasn't had surgery? How do you not get that fixed just so you have it fixed?

"Meh, I got a spare"

Is it for sure he hasn't had it fixed? You would think the media would report it but he's not on the roster so maybe they don't know.
