The drafting of Martin put a stake in the heart of bringing back Waters.

I see a lot of people dismissing Leary right now. I don't see it, I think JJ and company really like him and will give him every opportunity to be successful. Martin will play next to Fred and Free. If Free can play at a decent level like last year this oline can be really good. We know they will be using a lot of spread and Gun I would think the balance isn't going to be 50/50 I think it will be 60/40 65/35 pass/run ratio. We've seen nothing to suggest otherwise

60-65% pass is normal.

Waters could bump Mack or Leary but why would you do that for one year. We have a bit of time developing those players. He's a progress stopper. We don't need him anymore.

I think Waters retires before the season. As it stands now, he would be put on the PUP to start. If he was really planning on playing, he would have had the surgery and rehabbing now to get ready. He will hang up the spikes IMO.

He hasn't had surgery? How do you not get that fixed just so you have it fixed?

"Meh, I got a spare"

Is it for sure he hasn't had it fixed? You would think the media would report it but he's not on the roster so maybe they don't know.

Last I saw, he had not. Unless he has done it very recently, I do not believe he has had surgery. If he does have it, what are the chances he's ready for camp or the season?

My feelings on Waters has not changed, if he wants to come back and play this season great but going to camp has to be part of it. No waiting around until the season starts then choosing to play.

Biceps tears are difficult if its the belly of the muscle. If at the insertion then not as big a deal.

The OL will save Garrett's job or the Def will get him fired next season.
Actually, I have a funny feeling the Def will be better than we think. The noName D in Big "D".

Agreed, a good percentage of the defensive woahs last year were due to conservative play in the second half. I expect us to be a average defense at worst this year.

He played at a very high level last season with no practice time, no preparation really. I think he was one of the top 5 guards in football before he got injured. Not bringing him back would be silly, unless he wants to retire or isn't healthy or doesn't want to return.

I'm not sure how the team that gave a roster spot to Phil Costa last year can decide it doesn't need Brian Waters.
