B. Westbrook at most can touch the ball 320 a year. Certainly not 400 times a year as most franchise backs do.

But that's not the debate I've been having with an Eagles fan.

The debate is how big is Westbrook. I specifically remember his rookie profile. 5-77/8 and about 175 lbs.

These obviously aren't the demensions of a workhorse back.

However, the Eagles list him at 5-10 205 lbs.

Does anyone know of a player who grew over 2 inches and gained 30 pounds from age 22 to age 26?

More importantly, can anyone post his rookie profile?

I don't know about the height, but surely you realize that Westbrook isn't 175 lbs.

Also keep in mind that how players are listed in college and pros and at any time may vary - maybe by accident maybe by desigh, but it happens.

Either profile doesn't sound like a workhorse back to me.

Who cares if he isn't a workhorse?

Is he good?

Worry about that.

Amen to that.
I say that because I do see him as a great player.
If he really was 5-10 205 or even 210, he'd be L. Tomlinson.

Then we'd really be in trouble.

But he's not. Now I can't swear to the 175lbs, maybe he was 180.
I do remeber he was not quite 5-8.
And I've never heard of a 22 year old growing 2 more inches.

Point is that the reason he's so cat quick is that he's tiny.
It's also why he's only made it through 1 in 5 seasons healthy.

Any team that wants to beat them cares ........... wouldn't you agree?

They care about his weight when he was drafted? ;)

So those 2" and 5 pounds make that big of a difference? That's the difference between him being "LT" and him not being a feature back? 2 Inches and 5 pounds?

OK.

I was responding to a post that asked who cares about "beagles" players - it did not ask "who cares about the weight of beagles players".

Even so, weight could still be an issue because teams need to know what kind of player they are competing against ..... right?

He's pretty solid for a little guy. His shiftiness makes him surprisingly good between the tackles. I'll be honest, Westbrook probably scares me the most out of any back in the division, at least now that Tiki is gone.

Portis probably has a bigger name based on his stats in Denver and his pre game drag mascerade, but Westbrook all around is alot better.

i'll go with you on this one. westbrook is tough and likely one of the better backs in the NFC. maybe he won't get all the "touches" but he has a damn good knack to do something what he does get.

I think Westbrook is the perfect fit for a WCO RB. He had 240 carries and 77 catches

The guy reminds me of Marshall Faulk. And the only 'knock' I could even try to make against him would be the possibility of him getting injured.

And if he stays healthy, I think he'll be among the league leaders in total yards from scrimmage.

Brian Westbrook is one of the best players in this league because he fits so well into that system in Philly. Regardless of that he is a really good player, and Tony Hunt taking over eventually for the inside carries only prolongs Westbrooks career.

I was thinking before they drafted Hunt that Westbrook was going to have 3-4 more really good seasons before falling off the map like most starting running backs do in their thirties, but Hunt is going to take those pounding runs which is bad for us because Westbrooks isn't going anywhere for a while.

Besides, this only proves that players hieghts and weights are altered, just like Roy Williams and the fact that he weighed 230 lbs... (idiots who believed that)

It's just like on imdb.com where the shorter actors lie about their hieght... Some players are honest, and ususally the shorter ones fib. Big deal.

Westbrook's issue is he has a very real limitation running inside.

He is excellent off the edges though.

He is one of many good backs who are not franchise type guys and thus Philly's lack of desire to pay him like one.

Philly has an outstanding OL and Westbrook is more dangerous as a receiver then he is as a runner.

He has only one NFL season of rushing for more than 812 yards.
Thats a pretty severe rushing limitation.

BUT, he is excellent out of the backfield.

His receiving yardage has been above 600 each of the previous 3 seasons and thats outstanding for a back.

Speaking as an opponent's fan now Westbrook worried me only as a receiver or when he hit the edge untouched.

He is not an elite back but he is very good and paired with a strong short yardage type he could really be a great player for a long time. Not everyone can be LaDainian Tomlinson or Emmitt Smith.

Reminds me of Joe Washington.
