I just looked at the film of his pro day and there are some RED FLAGS ... However at 16 I'd take him without blinking because he wouldn't have to start for another 2 or 3 years, that's plenty of time to work on those flaws/weaknesses.

NONE, absolutely NONE of those red flags have ever appeared in his college career.

So in the game he has no red flags but at a relaxed pro day has red flags? Someone is sand bagging on purpose imo

to 16.......

What's the Cowboys gonna do? Once upon a time a top 3 pick and now..........

Pick him and thank the good Lord for our eventual Romo replacement? Pray of a team that wants him as Cleveland did? or just pick another player?

If our front office have him rated in the top 10 then I would just hand in my card and groom this young man to be succesor to Romo in 2 yrs.

You PICK HIM! And then do a HUGE CRAZY HAPPY DANCE

Who says he's the best? Manziel had a way better career in college and did it against way better competition

Bridgewater (30-9):

9,817 yards

68.4 completion percentage

72 touchdowns

24 interceptions

157.2 QB rating

Manziel (21-5):

7,820 yards

68.9 completion percentage

63 touchdowns

22 interceptions

164.0 QB rating

Bridgewater has a better arm, is 2" taller, and already has the capability to run an nfl offense....and he's not a running/"injury prone in the nfl" QB...plus teddy's pocket awareness and downfield vision are FAR superior.

I would draft Bridgewater at 16 and cut Weeden faster than Jason Hatcher can bolt for a payday from the Commanders.

Id honestly try and trade tony.

He is tradeable since most teams know what a top 10 qb contract is going to be. Plus, with the years he has left on his contract and the cap increasing pretty good over the next couple of years, he'll be affordable if you can find someone who wants him. I dont think his contract makes him untradeable like most want to think.

Manziel did that in 2 yrs. Teddy?

Come on man, everybody cant be a bust because your in love with Romo. Think back when Romo was an udfa did you think much of him then? Any qb need time and a team to win.

No one thought that much of Romo when he was a UDFA. The point being that he was just a UDFA. Dallas didn't spend a draft pick, much less a first rounder on someone they didn't think much of. Now we are talking about using a first rounder on a QB. I just don't see enough out of Bridgewater, Manziel, Bortles, Carr or whomever worthy of a first. Yet I do hope Dallas picks a QB in this draft.

I don't know how good Bridgewater will be; could be great or could be a total jag.

I do know this...his draft projection months before the draft proves nothing and there is a VERY long list of massive fails at QBs projected early that did go early or those projected early who fell.

Probably not. A poor pro-day or good pro-day should not greatly change anyone's opinion either direction.

Such as ?

I watched some of his "highlights" taking it in with grain of salt. Can make all the throws and not afraid of pressure. I do see him shuffle his feet unnecessarily. But footwork can be taught and corrected.

He threw some flat awful balls... His accuracy was questionable on the deep balls.

Keep thinking an Andrew Luck , or Peyton Manning will come through every year, good luck !

Unfortunately that's not the case. Sometimes Pro day is the only time some of the GM's see these players up close and personal.

Of course they don't and I don't expect that to happen regularly. That doesn't mean a team should just settle for much less. I've seen plenty of guys drafted in the first round whom I didn't think were good enough to be and they turned out poorly for the teams that drafted them. Ponder, Gabbert, Weeden, etc. to name a few recent ones. If there is no Andrew Luck or Peyton Manning, then you don't push the issue with QB. You go with other areas of the team because it still takes a good all around team to win. Why reach for a QB when there can be better options at other positions?

I would say that is more about bad scouting and evaluation than the player himself. I do think pro-days do matter to some extent. I don't think the extent is as great as the games scouted and game films that have been reviewed. By the time you get to a pro-day all that should happen is a confirmation of what you pretty much should already know about a player.

It is not the point to push for a qb but if Manziel, Teddy, or Bortes is there at 16 that is the best value. Trading up for these guys no but at 16 you have to draft one of those guys given our situation. A 30 something qb coming off his second back surgery.

the only QB worth drafting in the 1 st round IMO is Bortles

I don't think any of these guys are 1st round QBs. Reminds me of the 2011 NFL draft (besides Newton). Lots of reaches, including Locker, Gabbert, and Ponder.
