I have imagined this in an offense and others such as Hostile have written about it too. Now that Crayton is gone, it gives us the opportunity to put Felix Jones in the slot more often. This solves a problem because it gives Tashard Choice more carries and it gives Felix more times to touch the ball.

Does Crayton's loss mean that Felix will get more passes thrown his way?

I think so. And I think he does it motioning out of the backfield. And I think he does it while in a pro formation with Barber in the backfield.

That's my optimistic input for today.

Thanks for your thoughts and comments.

This is a great re-appraisal :D If more fans did this, the board wouldn't always be in an uproar.

I can see that as a rare play with him matched up on a LB. He's have to motion to the slot. That's a mismatch. But I don't see that as a mainstream role for him. If they put him out there often the other team would scout it and put a safety or extra CB on him. It only helps if he's matched up on a LB.

Eh I dunno...we haven't seen it very often in the past. If anything, I think this opens up more Martellus

It is unfortunate that Felix has never been a great receiver, besides that yeah...

I can go with this much. I think it opens things up for a few more guys. It'll be good to get some of these guys reps.

Actually, Felix got 19 of his 22 targets for a reception percentage of 86.4%.

Despite what we all want to think, Felix is not a back you split out into the slot or out wide ala Westbrook, Bush, etc.

He's good out of the backfield, but he's not a route runner, and he doesn't have the softest hands.

I thought the plan was to put Austin in the slot, and Bryant and Williams on the sides. How about two guys in the slot? that would be a twist.

It's also unfortunate that Felix has yet to prove he can survive an entire season without sittin' in the tub. But yeah, brilliant idea otherwise.

That's a very good point that I hadn't seen made yet.

Yeah remember this time last year, the big "weapon" was supposed to be Martellus lining up against LBs? I hope that will actually come true this year. I'd rather line him up as a receiver and let him go across the middle instead of Roy Williams because he's bigger and stronger.

with how Barber has looked in last two preseason games....Dallas will need Felix to be RB. Crayton catches now = Roy Williams and Keven Ogletree drops :(

Have you asked yourself why he was only targeted 22 times? And most of those were checkdowns.

problem is how consistent is he catching while running a wr route? i mean he can take a screen or a dump off but from what ive been told and heard he isnt the best pass catcher. But i agree you have to try it . his speed is too much of a weapon.

We'll just have to see. But my guess will be motion out of the backfield. He can't be that bad of a 3rd WR with his speed. We need him in there on the field when Barber and Choice are on the field too.

Too much Madden. If Felix was going to be the next Brian Westbrook, he would already be.

Choice seems to be the best back at running the screen and he can't get on the field barring injury.
