Dak is at his best with less attempts. We need balance. I know the Oline is not what we had, but don't we help the oline with more balance? And when Zeke gets as many pass targets as rushing attempts, please. Zeke needs 25 rushing attempts / game. If the offense has 70 plays in a game, Dak should have 40 attempts - tops.

25 attempts for 61 yards would of turned the tide yesterday.

The line is a far cry from what we had. Down 3 starters and the starter at LG is a probably still the weak link on the line.

More rushing would of done jack yesterday other than prevented any comeback.

How does that work when the RB is getting 2.4 yards per carry? Had the running game been working I'm sure there would have been a lot more running plays called.

And you have to consider that with Martin Smith and Frederick all in their prime it's a lot easier to play ball control than when you are working with backups in most O-Line spots. Ball control works with a dominant O-Line like that, but the Cowboys no longer have that.

You will never win a game in the regular season playing ball control. Unlike the playoffs teams are willing to take more chances I.e downfield shots, 4th down tries, and more.

If you play ball control and fall by more than 10 the game is already over even in the second quarter

The Cowboys have won a lot of regular season games playing ball control, so saying a team cannot do that is blatantly false. The problem is the Cowboys don't have the same dominant O-Line they did when they were winning games that way.

It was a fluke season.

that’s why we never replicated the success since.

even in 2014 with ball control romo had to throw for nearly 40 touchdowns with Single digit interceptions just to get us a 12-4 record.

It's hard to play ball control when you're constantly playing from behind.

This just seems like another "let's blame the offense for not bailing out the bad defense" thread.

MORE ball control?
we couldn't run the damn thing out of our end zone...it was NOT open for business yesterday.
we HAVE to be better.

Ball control really works if the team have a very good defense and being able to score on offense at a high percentage.

With Linehan, we have seen ball control work but there were too many times when the Cowboys came up empty while wasting 5 or 6 minutes. Basically, you are limiting the number of opportunities the offense can possess the ball.

Offense leads the league in yards and one of the best in points and the answer is to change the defense....how about the defense make a damn play or get off the field on 3rd downs? How about get some kind of consistent rush and when your matchups on the line?

Well, bring back the 2014 or 2016 OL, and I don't care who your OC is...unless it's Greg or Mike Shula, then no thanks.

The Seahawks defense was just as awful, if not worse... but apparently only Dallas defense allows a lot of points..

The “legend of Dak” grows, with his one-read, never take his eyes off his receivers, performances against “elite” defenses..

“Desperate Dak”, only throwing the ball when down by multiple scores.. otherwise, going 50% the whole first half plus, with the majority of his passes caught on third and long, crossing routes with guys like Cooper, two steps ahead of DBs playing man coverage...

The running game will improve once we get one of the tackles back. Looney and Connor are below average. It’s time for Biadasz and McGovern.

You should never lose a game where you score 31. The offense is more than fine. It’s the D
In years past I would agree 1000%, but defense is a rare thing right now. Over half the league put up 4+TDs worth of points this week and you still have the chiefs/ravens going tonight.

The nfl has become a league where you have to score 30 or more most weeks.

I'm hoping this changes as defenses catch up with more game action, but who knows.

You need a good solid oline before that happens. And people we do not have said solid oline at this point in time. It all starts up front and I do not care if it's Emmitt Smith or Tony Dorsett running the ball. They would get little to no yardage behind this atrocious makeshift line. Be realistic with our current situation.

As a few others said, the OL is not what it was years ago. Not even close. Look at the relative scrubs out there.

Doesn't help a lot that Zeke has way more mileage on him than he did, too. He's young but he's taken a ton of hard hits the last few years.

Yep, staring down receivers, yet he managed a Cowboy record for longest stretch with no INTs.

Only throwing the ball when down multiple scores? Have you watched the last few games. He has been throwing throughout. The team came out throwing Sunday.

As for being 50% in the first half, he was actually 65% the first half.

As for hitting receivers that get open, and completing passes on 3rd down, yeah, that's a negative. No QB should ever do that.

The browns have a fantastic defense. Care to predict Daks statline?
