Bring in Favre as BU next year

Couldn't resist this thought. Bledsoe will be gone next year and we'll need a veteran back up (or starter if Romo implodes). I can't imagine Favre suffering through another yr of humiliation in GB but he would probably love to be part of a team going in the right direction. Sign him here as the backup.

I think Favre would rather stay in Green Bay than become a back up

Guys like Favre, Aikman, Bledsoe, Elway, Marino aren't going to sign up for backup duties. Its just not in their makeup. (Bledsoe is just being a team guy by staying on after being demoted.)

I'm afraid you and I will be all alone on this one. I'm all for it.

Thanks for not calling me crazy (which I am). Of course this isn't going to happen but it's fun to think about. Romo would be like your new puppy peeing on himself.

As to why would Favre do it, he probably wouldn't. But I've heard he's said he wants to play another year and why would he want to stay with the train wreck in GB? I wouldn't see the point of going somewhere else and start just for the sake of it on another poor team (ala E. Smith to Arizona). Why not be part of something special here, be closer to home, and just have some fun.

why would he leave the team he has played for his whole career and come to dallas and be our backup? maybe troy can come back and backup for the Commanders?
i mean does that really make any since?

OK, I started this tongue in cheek but you're obviously thinking seriously. I'll try it your way.

Why would he leave the team he has played for his whole career? Because they suck, and will suck for the foreseeable future. I would think he would just retire rather than tarnish all he's accomplished but he has said publically that he wants to play more.

So where would he go where there is a better situation? Hmmmmm what team is on it's way up but just needs an old QB? Actually, I can't really think of one. The point is, anywhere he might go where he could start would probably be as bad or worse than GB.

If Jerry sold hard, he could paint a pretty good picture. C'mon down here, close to home and have some fun with us. This kid Romo just loves you and wouldn't it be great to put the exclamation point on your career by helping this kid hit the big time. Hell, the way he runs around, there's a decent chance he'll get his bell rung anyway so we'll probably need you to play a little bit. Let me throw a couple of million your way just for incidentals cause we're not paying him much. Besides, I like your style and I could introduce you to some of my lady friends around here. C'mon down Brett and get yourself another one of those big'ol super bowl rings.

I forgot to mention, TO would be on the bandwagon and would make a pitch too. He and Jerry could go as a team.

If Favre doesn't work out, maybe we could pry McOverrated loose from Philthy.

Brett will never be a backup, he will walk away from the game and wait for the call from Canton but he will never be a back be it in GB or Dallas.

I think bringing favre here would be great. However, since I believe favre will never sign anywhere new as a backup... sign him when he retires... as the QB coach.

People rag on Bledsoe about not being good on the sidelines, yet they want to bring in someone who the last couple of years has considered retirement and has been on record as saying something along the lines of it not being his job to tutor the next QB?

I just don't see it, furthermore I would not want someone like Brett telling Romo how to play...if anything he needs to play less like favre in other words cut out the mistakes and freelancing type of mentality.

I would also think that IF, and that is an IF that is so far from being probably, he did go to a team to be a backup it would be a team that ran the WCO. Possibly going to Seattle or with someone he is familiar with.

One last thing to consider with a backup. Sure people would like a vet that could step in but maybe a younger vet who would cost less compared to an older vet that even with minimum NFL wage would be costly.
