Wade has taken championship caliber defenses to more SBs in last 5 years than Dallas has even sniffed in over 2 decades.

Bring him in as Defensive consultant for Nolan. Wade has had more productive defenses than Nolan and his wealth of knowledge and ability to get most out of front 7 would be invaluable.

Wade just wants to coach, does not care about titles. And one thing he knows better than most is rushing the passer.

Bring in Ware as his assistant would be icing on the cake.

Wade teaches the 3-4 while our defense is mainly 4-3. I know most go hybrid nowadays, but the talent we have as they are might not fit Wade's scheme. Also what Walker said. I doubt he'd want to come back after having been treated like that.

Nope.

Wade uses a 1 gap 3-4 which utilizes same principles as 4-3 scheme, except there are always 5 potential pass rushers. Traditional 3-4 scheme is 2 gap. Traditional 4-3 is 1 gap but only 4 rushers.

One way for Cowboys defense to improve overnight is hire Phillips, this is a Wade Phillips specialty. Wade's defenses have been ranked higher than Nolan's over last 3 seasons.

And looking at the numbers from Football Outsiders, the Rams were among the best defenses in the league in 2017 and 2019, according to the site’s DVOA metric. It’s essentially a stat to measure a team’s efficiency on a play-by-play basis compared to league average.

One could, I suppose, call the rumors that teams are interested in Wade “news”.

It’s not “news” here. It’s just silly

Maybe you should have titled it “Breaking News! Wade Phillips Returning To Dallas!!!”

Most seems to be judging Nolan based on his stint with Atlanta, but he's been right up there with Wade in DVOA in several of his stops.

Nolan's best years were mostly with the Ravens, but not entirely. The Jets ranked fourth in defensive DVOA in 2000, and Nolan defenses ranked between seventh and 12th for four straight years from 2009 to 2012.

If Nolan fails, I certainly wouldn't mind bringing Phillips back. Frankly, I still feel that Jerry should have offered him a demotion to defensive coordinator when Garrett took over. I don't know if he would have taken it, but there was never any doubt about his DC ability, just his head coach skills, and we instead spent the Garrett years bringing in DCs who couldn't get the job done.

Coaches (and players) are not robots. There are relationships involved. McCarthy chose his staff and Phillips isn't part of it.

It would be a classic Jerry Move to tell him he has to add Wade to it.
