Bring Wade Philips Back as DC

The falcons lacked talent on defense when Nolan was there.

His last season (2014) both off-ball LBs were 2nd year UDFAs.

Three of the better players went to IR that season.

They had some "name" players but almost all of them were out of the league within a year or two due to age.

Nolan sounds like the defensive equivalent of Jason Garrett. He needs 1st rounders at every position to succeed.

And he does not adapt to talent like Wade, he needs his type of players. And after the first round, Nolan is not very good at finding/developing talent.

Most importantly, Nolan does not improve defenses his 1st year. At least not recently. The 2000 Ravens were a long time ago.

I don't think Wade is ever coming back, especially at his age where he doesn't have that many years left to coach. It would have been amazing if McCarthy had somehow wanted him, though, because it's such a shame to lose one of the best DCs of all time. He's probably the best coordinator we've had since... Sean Payton? (And even then we aren't totally sure about Payton without Brees.) And IMO has the most fun defense to watch with the way he pressures QBs.

I do think Wade would have loved to have come back and show what he could have done without the redheaded backstabber.

Yeh there's no way phillips comes back after the stunt garrett and jerry pulled on him.

Wade has taken championship caliber defenses to more SBs in last 5 years than Dallas has even sniffed in over 2 decades.

Bring him in as Defensive consultant for Nolan. Wade has had more productive defenses than Nolan and his wealth of knowledge and ability to get most out of front 7 would be invaluable.

Wade just wants to coach, does not care about titles. And one thing he knows better than most is rushing the passer.

Bring in Ware as his assistant would be icing on the cake.

Yes
Let’s fire our DC before he ever meets the players
That should make fans happy having jerry over rule his HC hire before the season starts

After years of fans bashing jerry for forcing staff on the HC, now we want jerry to force staff on his HC
This board can sure be bipolar sometimes

Who said anything about firing.

Just suggesting Cowboys add the BEST pass rushing coach alive today as a consultant.

Why not the guy who the HC wanted get a shot at HIS defense before we start changing it

I have 2 favorite sports teams, the Dallas Cowboys and Montreal Canadiens and I believe in a few things over the years, one of them is don't bring former players or coaches back once they have left. It's almost always a sure sign of regressing and going backwards. The Cowboys need to move foward.

I like Wade. He is a chip off the ol block.

I couldn't see him working enthusiastically for Jerrah. In any job there needs to be trust and JJ burned that bridge to the ground.

Which was a major problem for this team. Some really never learn anything.

NO! stop trying to force an old retread on MM staff..hes chose the staff knowing wade was available..no need for this..

I also like (and trust) our much heralded, well reputed coaches we already have on the team in Nolan, Tomsula, and George Edwards to
implement a sound rush program of their own...vs needing outside interference as a consultant.

:D

Consultant means he is guiding, not calling games or schemes.

Cowboys made a mistake by not bringing in Dan Reeves to guide Garrett because Garrett was too sensitive.

Same mistake when Phillips' DC was too intimidated when both Capers and Swartz were considering positions with Wade.

McCarthy picked his guy. That's who Dallas will roll with this year.

nolan and mm are big buddies. ( Nolan hired MM as OC back in 2005)

thats why Nolan was hired, even though his last job as DC was a freakin train wreck.

as Atlanta fans about the “trusted” Mike Nolan.
