The falcons lacked talent on defense when Nolan was there.
His last season (2014) both off-ball LBs were 2nd year UDFAs.
Three of the better players went to IR that season.
They had some "name" players but almost all of them were out of the league within a year or two due to age.
Nolan sounds like the defensive equivalent of Jason Garrett. He needs 1st rounders at every position to succeed.
And he does not adapt to talent like Wade, he needs his type of players. And after the first round, Nolan is not very good at finding/developing talent.
Most importantly, Nolan does not improve defenses his 1st year. At least not recently. The 2000 Ravens were a long time ago.
