Does anyone really care
Britney's expecting, but it's not unexpected
By César G. Soriano, USA TODAY
Confirming what fans have suspected for weeks, pop star Britney Spears announced Tuesday that she is pregnant.
Briitney Spears has realized her wish to start a family with husband Kevin Federline.

"The time has finally come to share our wonderful news that we are expecting our first child together," Spears, 23, and her husband of seven months, Kevin Federline, 27, said in a message posted on her Web site.
The baby news was hardly a surprise. Celebrity magazines have been reporting for weeks that the singer was pregnant, reports that Spears and her publicist denied.
On March 30, Spears lashed out at those magazines in a posting that began: "Dear False Tabloids."
But Spears has made no secret about how much she wanted a baby.
"The only thing I haven't done so far is experience the closest thing to God and that's having a baby. I can't wait!" she wrote on her Web site last November.
She has experience as a stepmom. Federline has two children from his relationship with actress Shar Jackson: daughter Kori, 2, and son Kaleb, 8 months.
In her statement Tuesday, Spears also acknowledged reports that she was briefly hospitalized in Florida Saturday. "There are reports that I was in the hospital this weekend; Kevin and I just want everyone to know that all is well. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers. Love, Britney & Kevin."
She did not say when her baby is due. Her publicist, Leslie Sloane Zelnick, did not return messages.
Spears' pregnancy may interrupt her music career. She had planned to release her fifth studio album this summer, but its release has been repeatedly delayed.
Her career has been in a bit of a slump: Her last CD, a greatest-hits package titled My Prerogative, sold 1 million copies, mediocre by Spears' standards.
Some celeb watchers suggest that recording may not be her top priority.
"She's been there, done that," says Peter Castro, executive editor of People. "I would not be surprised if the next five years are devoted to having a family."
While music may be on hold, Spears and Federline last week announced they will star in a UPN reality show documenting their courtship and marriage. Spears also has her own fragrance line.
"Britney has realized her name is a brand," says Lori Majewski, executive editor of Us Weekly.
It's also likely that Spears will try to sell her first baby photos to the highest bidder as she did with her September wedding photos, says Majewski.
"Britney has always been very savvy about her image. She profits off her image," says Majewski.
And as her tummy grows, so will the love-hate relationship between Spears and the media.
"I'm sure (media attention) will intensify," says Castro. "She's worth thousands of dollars every time she steps out of the house."
