Broadcast comments about Diggs

Ideally, Wilson and Hooker will both be gone. Wilson is a free agent in 2026 and most assuredly will be allowed to walk.

Hooker has one more year remaining and may be maintained for veteran presence back there.

It is so obvious what the issue is with the Cowboys defense but the board wants to blame Dak, Micah and Diggs for our playoff failures for the last 30 years.

Yeah I think they like Hooker. I don’t know if they still like Wilson at one point he was a solid thumper box safety who had a knack for making plays. Them days are gone.

Diggs is a nice guy. I chatted with him on Facebook. I told him his little boy was funny.
I heard him talking on the radio the other day. He does seem like a nice guys and a very reasonable guy too. I think the Joneses are very good at tarnishing their own players in the media which is what they did with Micah and Diggs. That's how they justify their dumb behavior running the team. "We had to trade the best defensive player we had. He was a problem." "It wasn't one thing with Diggs, it was a bunch of things". That's all BS. They have to stop being petty jerks and start worrying about the product on the field. That defense is an embarrassment and they are responsible for that.

I already miss diggs!! :muttley:
I don’t miss him because I think injuries have taken its toll on him. But he ain’t wrong. We’ve drafted guys to fit the defensive scheme we’ve ran the last few years. Those guys are better in man coverage. I like playing a lot of man and going after the QB. Any QB can pick apart your secondary if they have time. To me you pressure and force quick decisions.

Yes Diggs openly complained about the zone scheme that Eberflus ran and stated man to man was a better fit for the Cowboys defense.
The stats do not support this view. The entire secondary, including Diggs, was awful in man coverage all season. Diggs may have been the worst CB we put out there statistically in both man and zone. The QB rating against Diggs was close to perfect.

Call me crazy, but you would think an elite athlete, like diggs, should be able to adapt to different schemes. If not, then he's a stupid player and we don't need stupid players here. That's not to say we didn't make a mistake hiring Eberflus, because we did. But players need to be able to play in multiple schemes and diggs is apparently too stupid to figure out how to play zone. It's not like its a foreign concept to DB's .

Refusing to tackle and faking the funk for 4 quarters? Naw, we can find better. I used to love love love Diggs, but I soured on him real quick after one intentional whiff after another.
History......remember Mike Jenkins, Cowboy CB?......he was villified for a moment of making a business decision on the field..........Diggs made it a routine and part of his game play. Good with standing "around" the pile, .....after little resistance shaking off a block by a WR and after 10-15+ yd RUNs, including on 3rd downs.

No doubt Diggs has been/always will be a cover CB, and the Eberflus scheme does NOT suit his style of play. No doubt that this is where the disconnect between him and the team came into play, and it derailed from there. He played only 18 coverage snaps, with only 1 completion made, so yes, it's a limited sample size. My question is simply this: If Eber and his scheme are on the way out, would it have been worth it to keep Diggs and find a DC that actually uses the skills our guys on D have? If Diggs was the question mark, what's the answer? Carson? Revel? Off-injured Bland? We know there is no real plan, so why not just keep him if there is a "pending" DC change? I fear there will be NO DC change, thus, Diggs is in Green Bay

Oh, i totally agree with that part but we dont need this moron to tell us what is obvious to any sane football fan
Oh for what it's worth, I was not opposed to cutting him. You can't have a guy like that, now with an injury history, on the roster. He had to go, just for his health alone. I worry he's not going to be the guy he was before even if he finds another man DC to play for.
