I believe i McCann, give him time, has superior speed, 4.33 in 40 or better, mccann is also an excellent kickoff/punt returner too, so he can help here and there, and be used some in slot covering wrs, till he learns. .

i really liked the McCann pickup also, I think he'll contribute at some point...and hard not to like his wicked speed.

Both Kennard and Gesek had played and started games at center in Phoenix and the Raiders respectively. You want versatility in your OL of course.

But that should be down the line in terms of plans when you start thinking about your primary backup never having played the position, anywhere, on any level before. We would never go into a season, for instance, with our backup tackle someone who never played there ever before. It should not make any difference at center either.

Don't know about Kennard, except he was fat, and lazy and always had to be begged to play. As for Gesek, don't recall him playing center much at Sac State. And if he did I would not be surprised either b/c it was a div II program that did not give out athletic scholarships during Gesek's time. And I specifically recall that Alex Gibbs (Raiders OL coach at time) drafted Gesek to play Guard. Dallas traded or signed him to play Guard as well. His first 7 years in the NFL his position was Guard (as listed on team rosters, not G-C). It was only after the '92 SB season that Gesek was listed as a center (for the Commanders). And that was because Gesek subbed for Step when he got injured and did so well at the spot.

Point being, both guys had to learn the position (at the pro level) sometime. Bright's inexperience will not go away without reps. The Cowboys' coaches are very high on Bright believing he could be a pro level center. Why not see what he's got? Bright is tough, strong and smart - I think I will give him and coaches a chance, at least see him in preseason before the endless hand wringing.
