He doesn't elaborate as to why but according to Broaddus the Cowboys aren't loving Darnell Washington. He also mentions that G Chandler Zavala out of North Carolina St. is a player they do really like.

3:50 - 5:00 minute mark of the video.

If the Cowboys like another TE late in the 1st or trading down into the 2nd round over Darnell Washington, they are making a big mistake. Darnell Washington is the most complete TE in this year's draft. Superior size, excellent blocker and good pass catcher who is aggressive running for YAC (yards after the catch).

How many times have we heard on podcasts in the last week that we are now in the lying season?
Broaddus is pretty in tune and doesn’t really do smoke screens. 99% of what he says comes directly from the star.

He called Taco, Trysten Hill, Tyler Smith etc. all well before the draft.

I believe Dallas has no interest in a blocking TE that needs to develop in receiving. It’s Mayer or a guy like LaPorta or Tucker Kraft later (which is the way I would go)

That's a strange denial on a player that most everyone only thought we'd have a passing interest (due to expected 1st/2nd projection and possible need for development).
I wonder it's a veiled reveal that if we don't like Washington then it must be Mayer.

Mayer has a low ceiling, but he’s going to be your 65+ catch, 800+ yards and a bunch of TDs for you. Consistent and good.

Washington could possibly be a bust which is why teams are hesistant. But man the possibilities are insane. I’m not a fan of it because I just don’t like a big project at 26. I feel we can get much much more from a guy like LaPorta or Kraft later

He is Mercedes Lewis until he proves otherwise. You are drafting a blocking TE and hoping he develops as a receiver.

I don’t remember him calling those “well before the draft”. More like day of or shortly before the pick.

Its the old dilemma: project vs player. My problem with the boys drafting is that we take too many chances on projects vs players. Instead of relying on film we give too much credence to 40 time, etc. in rds too high.

Projects are for the 4th rd and later. Same with risks on character and health and so on

As I have said Washington's potential is immense: but the sad fact is that most of the time when you only see potential on film that is all there ever is.

It's the floor vs ceiling argument. If you are going to take the upside pick, you better do our homework on the player if he truly is a worker and wants to get better.

There is going to be a run, probably early 2nd rd, where the likes of all the top 6 will be all gone. I think if the Cowboys wait until 90, we are talking more about Spoonmaker, Kuntz not Kraft/Laporta.

So they love Mayer more than anyone outside of Robinson but hate Washington. Hmmm

The more I read and research what the media is saying

I really think they will end up
1>Gibbs
2>TE LaPorta or Kraft
3>Zavala
4>Cory Trice
5>DT like Lacy or Roy
6> Moody or Ryland

Totally believable on both players. Could easily see Zavala at 58 or 90. As for Washington 26 is too high 58 he will be gone.
