Shelton... that's a tough one.

Dallas kept Josh Ball around for quite a while hoping he'd develop, But Ball played better than we've seen from Shelton.

IF there is a legit culture change in Dallas, then PS3 should be make-or-break for Shelton, even as a 2026 4th rounder

Ball was a better prospect than Shelton he just slipped because of off-field issues.

Shelton is the same prospect Waletzko was.

Cutting them exposes them to other teams. Not sure we want to do that! Have to give them a chance.

You still have to have a productive, versatile 53 team around you.

That deep...it's a gamble. Other teams seem able to survive it.

He wasn’t supposed to be prepared to start week 1, but he was expected to be able to be competitive against backup talent in the preseason. Expecting to go from train wreck to 2027 starter isn’t impossible, but very unlikely.

At this point his stock has dropped while guys like Emmett Johnson, Mike Washington, and Adam Randalls have soared. I’d swap any of those three for Shelton in a heartbeat, while the raiders, chiefs, and ravens probably hang up the phone of you offered Shelton for those guys.

Could it not be a future starting RB? Why does the RB have to be a backup but we’re suggesting the RT is a future starter?

The RB you can get on the field year 1. The RB has a higher chance historically to make an impact. RT is the higher value position due to scarcity….thats about the lone advantage of the RT in this debate though.

It depends on how far back you go with the data but 4th round OTs seem to develop into multi year starters between 10-15% of the time. Odds are pretty significantly against Shelton ever becoming a starting caliber player. That’s even more in doubt after a slow start to his career. Realistically we’re hoping he can develop into a reasonable backup/swing player.

Offensive line depth in the league is bad. He can go somewhere and learn and get better.

I thought he would do better. But remember they kept guys like Ball and Waletzko around a few seasons. Cornelius also took two years to take off
