Broaddus mentioned trade names to look out for

Here's one seemingly reasonable answer...

Because it allows you to spend a 6th or 7th round pick (ie, sent to the other trading partner) to remedy a void in the starting 22 instead of a 2nd or 3rd.... and the ripple effect being... you get to upgrade at another position with that 2nd or 3rd instead.
Can you trade a 6th or 7th for anyone who is a sure fire starter? How much do you have to pay this player? What about the two guys you signed in FA?

I think you can get rookie RB's after the 3rd round that will be contributors this year.

Not trying to overly debate it but I just don't see strong case to trade for a RB at this point in time.

That seems to be their blueprint.

Aging guys, former 1st round bust or just bottom of the barrel types.

They will make moves ala Gilly, Cooks etc
Yup. Jerry's clearly outsmarting the 31 other front offices.

lol…if Dallas labels a player has a”has been”, “never was”, “ needs a new start”, or “has untapped potential” then they can expect a call from Jerry and Stephen Jones.

I just saw a mock from the Cowboys Wire on USA Today where Dallas sends pick number 12 and 5th round pick number 149 for the Lions 28th pick and Jameson Willams. (With the 28th pick they have Dallas selecting Omarion Hampton RB UNC).

Wouldn't Dallas need to make a decision on Williams regarding his 5th year option or a long term deal? He was a 2022 first rounder, this is year 4 for him.

Btw, I wouldn't be upset if this is how it plays out. Just need to know what the plan would be for Williams.

No way Hampton is still there at 28

Trading for a RB makes zero sense unless the Cowboys don't get one by the 3rd round and the board is picked over.

And even at that point, I would just as soon go with JaVonte Williams and Miles Sanders instead of giving up assets for White or Etienne.
Exactly you can get one after the draft or even at the end of camp.

Plus, there isn't really any reason not to come out of this draft with one. Maybe not a blue chipper but a solid player.

If not then we have our #2 WR in J Williams. We use 28 to pick a CB which we probably need more than anything else right now. Then use 44 and 76 to get RB and DT. Tons of depth at RB and DT in this draft. The only problem I have with this trade proposal is that after our 76th pick we don’t pick again until pick 174. Of course, if we get 4 potential starters with Williams and picks 28, 44, and 76 then I could live with it.
