Warford does not seem like the type of guard we want. In fact, I'd say he's the opposite.

Problem is we said last year we wanted more of a zone style of running game but we basically stuck with the power running game.

So i'm fine with a Warford until I actually see evidence that Dallas is serious about running more of a zone scheme.

I don't think Broaddus is any more informed on what the Cowboys are thinking as we are.

I wasn't aware of Barrett Jones' situation. My point remains, however, that the depth at OL is quite good in this year's Draft. And that goes well beyond the two names previously mentioned.

I think people are underestimating Eifert as a WR. He was split out wide a ton at ND. So, he's a TE in two TE sets, and a wideout in 3 WR sets with Austin in the slot.

You can still get Warford (or Barrett Jones, most likely) in round 2. Winston, Clabo and Moore are also good options in FA.

No. You don't force an OL pick in round one if the elite are off the board.
when did I say we were going to force a Oline pick if the elite are gone? If we had drafted better lineman in years past rather then reaching we wouldn't be in this spot of needing to find a quality rookie guard.

They better consider them! I'll say it again--I'd rather end up with either of those guys than another Bobby Carpenter

Yeah but anyone would rather have any player over Carpenter.

That guy was a complete bust not because Dallas took him at a position of need but simply because he sucked.

He went right where he was projected. People put that on Parcells b/c he knew the kids' dad -- but Carp would have been off the board quickly if we didn't take him

Carpenter was a given for us because of our need at the position and because Parcells knew his dad.

It was a comfortable pick that everyone expected us to make and we did.

And it was terrible.

My point is that--we shouldn't settle for a trade down because the position we target is taken or settle for a lesser player at that same position.

Outside of QB and OLB, just take the top ranked guy who will play a huge role on this team. Don't settle for the 'easy' pick that everyone expects you to make.

Chills ran down my spine then almost as they were gone I played back in my head the pick six he had against romo. Man that sucked.

I've come to the conclusion that most fans are stupid. If we run 2TE sets, that gives us more protection with blocking and passing--and it gives Romo another option. The more I think about it, the more I like Eifert.

and how does that make any difference when Romo is hit by the missed blocks from the center of the line? Those TEs don't block DTs and NT's coming up the middle; nor the ILBs that do the same.

“@ianchisolm: Please tell me rumors about possibly drafting Austin or Eifert aren't true. Even if targets are gone just trade down.” I can't

Broaddus loves Austin, he'd be happy if he was the pick at 18.

Of course he is, he gets to talk to actual staff members on a regular basis, even if they don't tell him anything of any real value. That's more than just about anyone on this forum can say. However, as far as being able to tell anyone definitely who the Cowboys are considering at 18, I agree that he doesn't have any sort of real inside information.

Notre Dame TE Tyler Eifert definitely a player among most targeted for trade-up possibilities in NFL Draft. @ESPNNFL

Later than round 2, he is expected to start the year on PUP and miss the first 6 games.

Ah ... so then that clinches it. Barrett is our second round pick. Cowboys love those injuried guys.

Notre Dame TE Tyler Eifert did not have a single pre-draft visit during the process.
Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network notes Eifert is almost a "secretive prospect" and is so under-the-radar. Teams know about Eifert's talent and how clean he is off the field, so after meeting with him at the Combine there is little reason to spend one of the team's 30 visits on Eifert. There's a legitimate chance the tight end is selected int he top 15.

My main take away from this is dont read into anybody not coming in for a visit good or bad. May only mean they are satisfied with what they already know.

We have Witten and Hanna as our top two TE's. And if we want a WR I'd rather have
Austin who can also return punts, kicks and is a threat to score everytime he touches
the ball. Eifert makes no sense to me.
