I always assumed Deion would try and coach his son in the pros but harder to do with a draft you can't really control. And then depending on that team who drafts his son even has a HC vacancy. Unless he tries to strong arm teams and tell them his son won't sign to anyone unless it's the team they agree upon.

If Jerry hires Jason Witten as HC I'll be furious.
I love big Witt but as a HC for the Dallas Cowboys, or any pro team really, is crazy.
Don't do it Jerry, please. I don't want to hate Witten.

If they did that it would be the final nail in the coffin for the "Not a Serious Franchise" label that they already pretty much have cemented.

I don't really see Witten as a bad hire. As long as Witten hires 2 GREAT coordinators, and understands that his real job is to keep Jerry away from the team. Just keep Jerry in front of the cameras, and not making any decisions, and let the great coordinators work and build a great team.

I would support that hire. Kiffin is really smart and the players love him. It would be good timing for him too b/c he just lost his QB. One snag is that Kiffin makes 9M per year at Ole Miss and there might a buy out. So, is Jerry willing to double the pay of his head coach?

He's going to go after Kellen Moore, get Witten in as TE and/or OC. He may try to keep Al Harris and make him the DC but MM could get him. Think Matt Eberflus as DC and LB's coach.

All these guys have had time together on this team.

Moore would call his offense and continue working with Dak. Al Harris or Eberflus would call the defense.

More Jerry lame ducking.

The difference is Campbell had a decade of NFL coaching experience before getting the HC gig with Detroit. Witten has zero. Yes a lot of the grunt work starts with coordinators, but the main job of your HC is to coach the coaches. How do you do that with zero experience?

Jason Witten is an all-time great Cowboys player, but coaching and catching footballs are two very different skillsets. Success at one doesn't qualify you for the other, otherwise we'd have Bill Belichick out there running patterns.
