Broaddus: Standout Players & Notes From Cowboys' Rookie Camp

He sounds stiff. Why would you establish him as your biggest hope to make the team? From the looks of this report he wouldn't even be a good addition to our charity basketball team.
Because I'd like to see a monster pushing people around with the rest of an awesome line and they need a right tackle...

If he was a basketball player attempting to play tight end would that be acceptable to wish him making the team? Why do you care?

  • Though most of these drills are against air, it is clear that Ryan Switzer has a feel for how to execute a route. His quickness off the snap once he gets moving is impressive. His burst is noticeable. I also came away impressed with how easily he catches the ball. For a guy that doesn’t have much length, his ability to adjust back for the ball made me think of a much taller player. For him to be at full speed and reach back is a rare trait. It was interesting to see him being not only used on the inside but outside as well.
  • Watching Chidobe Awuzie and Jourdan Lewis go through drills, it was surprising to see that Awuzie looked a little quicker and more confident initially. I would have thought that it might have been the other way around, but that wasn’t the case. Awuzie has some noticeable pop in his hands as well when working on the blocking sled. He also did a nice job of jamming then turning to get into his drop when he was working in zone coverage. Where Lewis is better now is with his lateral movement, getting himself in position to play the route. Keep an eye on Texas cornerback Duke Thomas, as well. Thomas was signed by the Texans last season but couldn’t stick. He has the flexibility to play a couple of different spots outside and in the slot.

Going to be fun to watch Switzer, esp on special teams. Have a feeling this kid will be a fan favorite quick.

That McFarland kid sounds interesting, but with Swaim and Hannah still not ready to return, our depth is an older Witten, a guy who last played in junior high and two udfas. Gulp....
Ahh, taking the negative spin.

Listening to Spagnola on The Fan now. Missed the first few minutes

He at least said Taco looked "athletic." He said Noah looked "powerful," and that Brice better be ready for competition... was really impressed with Switzer's route-running and quickness. Also said Awuzie looked great, and said he likes the confidence he sees when Awuzie, Woods, and Lewis interview.

Ahh, taking the negative spin.
It's not really a negative spin, I like Rico's upside. Looking at it realistically, we have zero NFL experience after Witten if Swaim or Hannah starts the season on PUP.
