Broaddus: Talking Cowboys at dinner with Gruden

Here's Bryan Broaddus on with GAC just a few minutes ago talking about having dinner with long time friend Jon Gruden...

Broaddus goes to dinner with Gruden - Oct 25th

Good stuff from Broaddus! I just want a coach who will not let this young talented team settle for these seasons where they are struggling to even make a playoff run.

Head over to the ESPNDallas Pregame show going on right now with Nate Newton, Ian Fitzsimmons and Broaddus - Go here.

Let's go Cowboys!

Great job by Broaddus.

I'm on the record.

Jon Gruden is the best man for this job.

I hope he gets the job.

Tony Romo needs accountability from someone.

The entire team needs it (from the head coach), and it needs a new set of eyes and ideas brought to this organization.

I would really like to have heard that conversation between Gruden and Broaddus..

Again, that is a great scope by Broaddus.

I'm glad Gruden is intrigued by the job, because it is a great job.

He would be interesting. Might be really good for Romo over time, though having to teach a whole new scheme to alot of guys might be a significant process.

Would be interesting to see what sort of staff he'd put together.

Fixed...

;)

I wouldnt worry about Romo at this point, the new HC should be conserned about his heir apparent. That is the guy everyone should be worried about. Is he on the team now which i doubt and if not, than who?

Good points. I think Romo would thrive in his version of the West Coast offense. Gruden has been studying the spread, so I would be interested in seeing how he gave Felix Jones some space and got him on the edge. John Gruden is going to run the football and seek to control the time of possession and play ball control with his running and passing game. He is going to want the big plays, and his system really is built to minimize mistakes. There is really a structured discipline in his offense. It's a little more conservative, and frankly, I think Romo needs it to be at his best.

Gruden has to be licking his chops over the skill players on offense and defense on this team. I think his biggest challenge will be to rebuild the offensive line.

Don't look now, but your Georgia Bulldogs are sneaking around the chicken coop.

I dont think Jerry would have any say over a guy like Gruden's staff. In fact I dont think he'd have any real say in any new coach's staff. If they make a change (pretty solid chance IMO) it'll be because they had a disaster season, and Jones will want the new guy to win as early and as much as possible.

Dang. That's a whole lotta talking about Gruden getting the job in Dallas.

I actually like the upside of the #3 guy we have quite a bit. The only reason nobody here seems to like him is because we picked him.

If someone saw him play for some other team the way he did for us in that last preseason game, people would be asking why we didnt get that guy.

Awesome, add me to the list of Gruden supporters who would love to have him as our coach. I don't think it's possible until the off-season though because of his contract.

I would also like to see Garrett made interim HC for the duration of the season.

Dude...you know as well as I do...Jerry is going to have a say so over anyone he hires. And, it's his team, so I don't really care about Jerry being a meddling owner.

Let me ask you...if Gruden became the HC and wanted to get rid of Garrett, you think Jerry would let him do it?

He likely wouldn't.

But, Gruden wouldn't join up if he couldn't make his own moves.

That's the thing. You don't get the coaches you NEED when you have a guy who cannot relent any power at all.

Absolutely he will.

I think Garrett may have been on Grudens team late in his career. Cant remember if he was on the Bucs all that season or not.

Jerry had no say over Parcell's staff, he wouldnt have any say over a guy like gruden's either.

What? I would have thought that any new HC would want to make his own moves. Are you saying that Gruden will take over as a puppet?

okay from al teh doom and gloom ive read over here, it seems people dont like him, but you might be right. I stopped my streak after daying Romo was going to be good when people wanted those other guys.

But if you see soething in him and i missed it, im not saying you are wrong, i could have missed something.

I just think its to long of a wait and I dont want Bartel 2.0 which is what i saw out of him from the first time i saw him play. Better than Bartel, but strong arm and not much else.

Than i saw him make better decisions this pre season, but not a better complete game than i was hoping for.

Misspoke.

He wouldn't, if he couldn't.

Trying to do too many things at once right now. Gruden would not join up if he didn't have his say.

I wonder if Gruden would run the old Packers sweep for Felix Jones.

He might dust that play off.

Mike Holmgren ran that play. It was a staple of their running game.

How on earth is Tony Romo not held accountable? The only thing he's not held accountable for is all the great plays he makes and the fact that he is the sole reason this team is competitive every week.
