I'm not really sure what Broaddus has done to be worshipped by Cowboys' fans.

Stick to analyzing game film, Broaddus.

Broaddus spends his days tweeting. Rod spends his days coaching at VR. There is a reason one has an actual NFL job and is respected around the league.

Why does anyone pay attention to Broaddus?

Why do people think he's gone, anyway? Nothing's been said publicly about it in any way, and Broaddus has been pretty clear that he has no inside information, just his own opinion here. Why would the guy leave a great gig that he likes where he works with an old friend and will get paid handsomely for a demotion to a small market team to start all over at his age with a new group of players just to work with another old friend who may not have much of a leash? It just doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

The only possible reason I can think of is a desire to go back to Tampa Bay to begin the process of easing into retirement.

Other than that, all of the other factors favor staying with the Cowboys.

Another factor for Dallas would be what I would assume will be a concentrated effort through the draft and free agency to further stock his defense.

i get all the old connections but really why do you want to leave a team that's knocking on the SB's door this year and one good offseason/draft from being potentially dominant for the next few years versus going to Tampa to try to turn around the worst team in the league and knowingly suffer through several losing seasons? No one but Marinelli himself knows the whole story that will go into any decision but based on what we know, wouldn't make a ton of sense to me.

Do not assume Bryan Broaddus has any inside information. He's guessing just like we all are.

Yeah that sounds exciting. Leave the Dallas Cowboys for Tampa...terrible idea. Not going to happen.

Well, it is better weather and fishing but I don't see him leaving unless he's a HC or gets enough money. Jerry will match any offer IMO.

I follow just to laugh at him.

Whenever you're bored, check out his timeline and pay attention to how many questions he actually answers. He rarely ever answers the question asked. Because he doesn't know but doesn't want to say that. He also doesn't want to put his neck on the line to look foolish later.

Ask him a draft question now. You won't get any insight. He won't even try. 2 months from now he'll be a draft expert fielding all questions.

Going from basically last in the league in defense to 22 ppg and 15th near the top in TOs is a great job by Marinelli esp given all the injuries. You can't bemoan the lack of talent on defense then cry about how poor the coaches are doing with the defense at the same time. Let me retract that. Of course you can whine about it but if so you are being illogical and agenda driven.

If you want to complain about the talent then complain about the GM and talent acquisition. Then you'll have some support.

like for the use of the word bemoan!

and, I don't blame broaddus for having an opinion; he was asked a question so he answered...but opinions are like backsides, we all have them and we know what some are full of....

Everyone always talks loyalty when claiming they think he leaves but the defensive staff in Tampa is full of guys from Lovie and Marinelli's coaching tree and none of them seem to be leaving. Marinelli will have to either go as a position coach or take some made up consultant title. I don't really see it. He is finally in spot where he can have some success right away for the next few years. What I don't understand is why Jones hasn't locked everyone up to new deals before they hit the open market. They already announced they want everyone back so why not just get the deals done now? Maybe they have but don't want to announce them until after they are done.

Anyone who, at this point says anything about this subject is a big fat liar.

What's the end game? Surely not a third NEW defense in only 5 years. Considering where the Cowboys are currently, that makes absolutely ZERO sense. They need to see this thing through to a championship conclusion over the next 3 or 4 years.

I honestly don't think it would be the end of the world. Eberflus could be a real up and comer. Every year the linebackers are running on fumes by the end of the season but he takes what he has and gets them ready to play.

Good point on Eberflus. He's done an excellent job with the LBers. I would not be mad at having him for DC if Rod wants to go with his BFF..

Anybody stop to think that maybe Marinelli just isnt happy here and there are 31 other cities he could get comparably paid. Maybe he he doesnt like how grampa Kiffin got treated. We are all guessing but usually where there is smoke there is fire.

Lovie Smith is his best friend, it only makes sense.

If Tampa was going to fire their D-Coordinator, they would have already done it.

It makes not sense for Marinelli to go there to hover over their D-Coordinator when he has the option to be the D-Coordinator here. The other issue when it comes to loyalty, is that Jerry will likely keep Kiffin around if Marinelli stays. It's unlikely that Tampa would hire both of them as consultants or position coaches. If Marninelli goes there he is basically forcing Kiffin into retirement or a much lower paying job.

I don't know why people can't figure out that Broaddus is not a logical thinker. He seems like a nice guy and has some football knowledge, but logical thinking is just not his strong-suit.
