Broaddus's take on issues with Dez

Dez just isn't the same without an elite QB. He runs limited routes and has a very specific skill set. Unless he is used in just the right way, he becomes much more of a JAG. Until Dak develops and learns how to use him, this is what he is IMO. There could be some truth to the injury concerns, but we won't know that tell end of season, if at all. I believe another part of this is Dak's unwillingness to make some of the throws that Dez is elite at. These throws have much more risk, which goes against the very trait that made Dak so good last year, risk aversion.

I agree but some of it is play calling and/or play design.......I would have a min, 5-8 ( in addition his normal targets ) plays per game that gets the ball in his hand. Plays no defense can stop.......

Dude, everybody in the NFL is playing hurt at this point in the season. If that's a viable excuse, why isn't every WR stopping short on routes and dropping a couple balls per game?

I'm not one of those who think Dez is a major issue, but for Broadduss to use the "hurt" excuse is stupid

Dez is going nowhere. He's had a down season but is still a very good WR. He's too valuable on the field and in the lockeroom to cut or trade. We could say he's making too much but that's the nature of the nfl before you know it his contract won't seem bad compared to what other guys make

It has nothing to do with elite. He needs a QB that is accurate outside the has past 15 yards. Dak is all over the place.

How people fail to see this, amazes me

This should be an easy pitch and catch

The major issue with Dez is that he can't get open and he drops way too many balls. He ALWAYS has a DB pinned to his hip. The target area to get him the ball is about one foot or the DB just slaps it away, same with tWilliams. T.O seemed to be 5 yards away from the nearest DB many times per game.

Dak could be better.

So can he...

Just because Dak missed him on one play doesn’t give him an excuse to drop a ball the next. There is no sense finger pointing here.

I have defended Dez a lot and will continue to do so but he is not completely innocent, he has missed on some opportunities as much as Dak has missed on some throws.

Yes that is part of it as well. But honestly, Dez's best routes are back shoulder and it seems like Dak refuses to throw them.

Sorry man but no he doesn't particularly on crossing and comeback routes. CBs are sitting on the go/fade, jumping all over the smoke and giving those routes up. When he tires to go downfield sure but he runs a lot more routes than people give him credit for.

The biggest issue IMO is that you have to leverage those backshoulder fades and gos and Dak cannot do it consistently.

Dez Bryant will not practice today. According to the Cowboys, he has a knee bruise

"I don't know about either [being able to play Sunday]," Jones said on 105.3 The Fan's Shan and RJ show [KRLD-FM], "but I don't know about either that they won't play. I think between the two, I would say I would count on both of them, really."

IIMO he has never fully recovered from his foot injury

This is the exact play I keep taking about. Linehan motioned Dez from the right to the slot and Dez best his man in a drag route, but Dak sailed it over his head. Dak homers blamed Linehan for calling a pass on first (ironic, Dez is wide open and Dak has bad pocket presence no poor technique on his throw and it’s Linehan’s fault) and if Dez didn’t make that spectacular one handed grab on the go route on the third down of this drive while being interferes with in actuality, the Dak homers would have blamed Dez for the failed drive.

He had plenty of space for RAC as well.
