My broader perspective is simple really.

I could care less about the loss today because I'm going to be in Miami for a week to watch my Iowa Hawkeyes destroy the Georgia Tech Yellowjackets in the Orange Bowl.

Ohhhhh man, can't wait.

Broader perspective? In 10 years most of us will barely if at all, remember this game.

I record all the games and have virtually every Cowboy game from 77-85 and 90-95 and 06-09.

I also rewatch the games during the offseason and sometimes during the season. Even the losses. I'm working through 1979 right now.

I think I may have a problem.

ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!!!!!!! That is freaking awesome!!!! Man, all off season I would pick a season to watch and watch it like it was the real season again. Wow this is probably the best thing I have ever heard of.

I dont expect anyone to pick Iowa. Nobody outside of Iowa ever does...we're used to it.

We've struggled to defend the run at times this year as we're only 33rd in the nation, (which is modest, but poor for Iowa standards) but we're 10th in scoring defense, and 5th in interceptions.

Tech is mediocre at best in any and all forms of defense (Ranked in the 50's). Warm weather combined with us getting our starting QB back and I think we'll be in pretty good shape against GT.

It's going to be a helluva game though.

Would you space em out weekly? If so, do you keep Monday night games on Monday night?

I wanted to see you vs TCU.

That would have been a helluva defensive battle.

Really, Im picking Iowa, I don't even think it would be that close. I have not seen GT that much this year but I assumed Iowa would be favored.

BTW how do you think Ferentz would do as a HC in the NFL? After watching him the past couple of years I would not mind seeing him get looked at here. Seems to do a lot with minimal talent...

77, good lawd. I would love to watch those games back then to see how differently it was played compared to now and how differently it was reffed compared to now.

I have to admit when I see a QB get decked I expect to see flags fly. Then I realize they actually let defenders defend back then.

I think I've heard that Iowa is 3 point dogs.

As far as Ferentz he would be an outstanding coach in the NFL. Actually to be honest I think he'd be better in the NFL. He is an NFL style coach, but I never want him to leave Iowa. He is however a little too conservative with his philosophy, and I blame his staff often for "playing not to lose" at times. He plays it very close to the vest like Parcells did, but perhaps this has to do with talent...

Because you are right on the money with doing alot with minimal talent. Compared to Michigan, Ohio State, etc, Iowa gets scraps for recruits. He gets "his guys" and they bust their *** for him. Hard work and dedication is what the program is all about.

Okay, you did your chirping. Now, show me how the last 2 games of last year had anything at all to do with yesterday.

Good luck.

Why are people babbling about college football in this forum, and why have the mods not moved this thread?

Who coined the "Broader Perspective" phrase? I thought I did but it may have been someone else :laugh2: .
