Jaguars are in love with Parnell just to keep you informed. Jags think both him and Linder make the oline legit as Beadles last year regressed. Their consensus was that Parnell played nearly flawlessly over the last 8 games behind both Free and Smith(I know just quoting what they think). You might be premature with your passionate hatred for Parnell.

Thanks for the update. Do you live in that area?

I was at practice Thursday. I agree that Scandrick looks slow. Injury would make sense. Or he just doesn't have his legs under him.

They should give him a couple of days off.

Broaddus is much more right than wrong. If you make prognostications early on in camp you're going to miss some. He's only giving you want he sees at the time and if people considered the context they'd likely be less judgmental.

The few times I've talked to him he's been right on although pretty succinct which probably reflects how busy he is. Of course I only ask him specific questions about players problems and technique. And no I don't know him personally and all this is via media and not phone.

Broaddus is like that kid in math class who knew how all the operations worked, but when the tests rolled around he managed to confuse himself and still end up with a C. He's a great resource for what to look for at a position, and he's got lots of great stories. His opinions on players though, are colored I think from what he hears from his sources on the team which are not always accurate. And when it comes to reading tea leaves-like with Rod Marinelli's renewal last season- if he has to apply his knowledge to a situation and make an actual inference, he's completely tone-deaf. He'll also get up or down in a player for whatever picayune reason, and he rides that despite what is actually happening on the field. So he ends up telling you BW Webb is outplaying Orlando Scandrick in camp right before Webb gets deservedly cut.

I like Broaddus though. There's just a bit of an art to what you can rely on him for and what you should completely disregard.

Work put me there for a couple of weeks. They are really in rebuild mode and use completely different adjectives when describing practices and team. Lots of "smart" players. We should be basking in the greatness of our talent compared to the Jags.

No, just pointing out that he didn't like even the mildest of criticism.

Meh. Life is too short to hold other people's shortcoming over them. We have a tendency to treat people like angels until otherwise proven human. As a result, when we find out they have faults we are appalled, when really we should understand faults is a defining feature of a human. We all have areas in our life we know could be better. I know I do, at least...

Probably.

The funny thing will be when people shove Parnell down his throat after Parnell blows monkey balls this year.

Yes, I'm sure the num-nuts will come out in droves if he has any struggles and will run and hide if he is good.

I agree in part. He is much more knowledgeable than anyone here about what to look for in a player and reporting that. He's like everyone else in that it is an opinion and he's not always right.

His other job is to promote the team and he does that by projecting what he sees down the road. That is pretty hard to get right.

And he tries to report on what he hears. Since some of that is going to be at an arms length then it won't always be accurate either. I have no way of knowing how much accurate inside info he has access to.

My take is I read as much as I can knowing much is not reflecting reality. And I take home from Broaddus what I know his strengths are with the understanding he's not on the inside. If he was an insider then you'd hear much less from him.

Each person should interpret data as they see fit.

And all anyone can do is report what a coach/exec/player tells them.

In the case of Bryan Broaddus and Mickey Spagnola, I recall an off-season episode of Talkin' Cowboys where the subject turned to Jack Crawford.

They talked about the coaching staff being high on the player, but that Crawford didn't want to play DT and his coach (Rod Marinelli or Ben Bloom, wasn't specified that I can remember) wanted to keep him at DE.

Fast forward to training camp and Jack is currently running second team behind Tyrone Crawford at UT.

According to Mickey, Marinelli convinced Jack to move to the 3 tech.

"And that doesn’t even account for last year’s sack leader Jeremy Mincey, albeit his total a modest six, or for Jack Crawford, the British-raised defensive end they have moved to the 3-technique defensive tackle behind Tyrone Crawford, the guy everyone seems to be predicting big things from. Now Jack saw himself as a defensive end, not particularly enjoying all the commotion at the defensive tackle he played some last season before fracturing his thumb to land on IR.

How’d Marinelli convince Jack he’s tailor-made for his 3-techinque tackle spot?

“Get inside,” he said with a smirk. “I’m not good on convincing.”

Yeah, he can only report what he hears and I don't understand why people don't understand that. Saying the coaching staff is high on someone isn't the same as saying they are going to make anything of it.

And he says what he sees in camp. Saying he likes what he sees and the player this or that is also just reporting not projecting.

It's all about knowing what to expect with Broaddus. He is often very misleading because he is often wrong, but if you can filter his comments then you can extract some info.

Question for you or anyone else...

Is Jack Crawford playing tackle or End?

You are delusional.

I have no hatred for Parnell. He isn't a Cowboy. I couldn't care less what type of season he has. My prediction is he struggles. But if he struggles or has a great year, I'm not going to care. He's irrelevant to how the Cowboys do this year.

No insult intended glad you are over Parnell

Broaddus" son is such a cutie. He does an excellent job with "Bennett's Minute". How old is he?
