Brock Hoffman

Badly overrating and overvaluing how Hoffman has played in minimal snaps.

I thought Hoffman was strictly a center for us. Playing some RG yesterday surprised me and showed his versatility.

Tantamount to a pre-season game.

I like Hoffman, but let's chill.
Come on, this is what we do.

Take limited data on fringe guys and turn them into good players. Think about August camp and the flag planting after preseason games. It is legendary.

It gets the people going. I'm here for it. Hoffman or Bass starting Center next season, loser backup IOL.

Don't you mean winner is on a path to All Pro and the loser is just on a path to a Pro Bowl?
I stand corrected. You've laid out a much better trajectory for where these guys are going. #1 OL in the NFL 2024.

They are serviceable and very upgradable. They don't keep the Cowboys from drafting OL early in the draft.

MAYBE the insane Deuce Vaughn hype will quell that going forward?
Ehh who am I kidding

The young Gs played well…but Wash was without their best DT.

I’m actually higher on Bass…who I think has a chance to turn into a starter.

It turns out that Hoffman has turned out to be an outstanding pick up. It's very impressive what the front office has done with the offensive line when you look at the backups of Hoffman, Bass, and Richards.
Yep.

And this is the exact reason why I'd rather go with any other position in Round 1 and 2.

If the best player available is a Tackle, then take him, but there is no need to reach when we have good potential in Bass and Richards.

Bass is really the only one thats projectable right now. Over 300 snaps split between LG and RG. But those snaps didn't really tell us if he is more than a playable back up. I like his upside as a player can win as a phone booth guy with enough athletism to succeed in pass pro and pull. But its going to take alot of improvement before he is starter caliber. Right now he is at the level of a playable back. Which is good to have.

Bass is the best of the back up OL right now, but he isnt keeping us from adding better interior OL

Yea I think this is the important part.

Regardless of how good Bass/Hoffman have looked in limited snaps, they should still be looking to add talent at IOL. That holds true for OT too, if Richards was in the same boat.

Richards is the one I would like to see more. He reportedly needed to add more strength/weight to his frame.

The OP's gotta be the FO's PR guy, I'm 100% sure now. Outstanding? Now I know my knowledge of the English language is limited, but that's not exactly the word one should use here.

Let's see how he develops, he could be a good depth guy. Bass is the one I'd look out for right now.
