ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- The San Francisco 49ers now have two first-round picks in this month's NFL draft.

The Niners acquired the 22nd overall selection in the draft from the Denver Broncos on Wednesday for picks in the second round and third round.

The Broncos will receive the 37th and 68th overall picks in the deal.

The Niners own the sixth overall pick in the draft as well as No. 22 in the first round.

The New York Jets are the only other team with two first-round picks in the April 29 draft.

The Broncos now own seven picks in the first four rounds. They have the 15th overall selection after moving up from 29th in a deal with Atlanta.

Denver had acquired the 22nd overall pick from Washington in a trade last April.

This could mean they are looking for an OLB here. They run a 3-4 as well and could be looking to add a Wimbley, Lawson or Carpenter.

Really muddies the water for Dallas trying to move down.

What's it going to be then, eh?

In case anyone is interested, the draft pick values match up exactly:

#22 = 780 points

#37 = 530 points
#68 = 250 points

Yep, better to just stay put at 18 and take whichever of the "big 3" lbs is left. ( Carpenter, Whimbley, Lawson )

Yup, we may not have a choice if we are looking at OLB.

That was originally the Commanders pick. Now it belongs to a Conference foe.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- The San Francisco 49ers now have two first-round picks in this month's NFL draft.

Charting the tradeMost NFL teams use a Trade Value Chart

to make sure they're getting enough in return -- or not overpaying -- when trading draft picks. The chart assigns a point value to every pick in the seven-round draft. So how does this trade between the 49ers and Broncos check out on the chart?

The No. 22 pick that Denver sent to San Francisco is worth 780 points, while the two picks going from the 49ers to the Broncos No. 37 (530) and the No. 68 (250) are worth a total of 780. So according to the chart the trade is a wash.

The Niners acquired the 22nd overall selection in the draft from the Denver Broncos on Wednesday for picks in the second round and third round.

The Broncos will receive the 37th and 68th overall picks in the deal.

The Niners are running a 3-4 now are they not? We might not have the luxury of trading back past 21 now. I remember seeing that they like Huff, but I also thought I read they were interested in someone else that has been linked to Dallas. Anyone remember seeing this as well?

So, how many times has that pick changed hands and we are still 10 days from the draft? lol......

They are going 3-4.
This could affect us, hence why I posted it.

Yes, but how? Some on another board are saying this could allow us to move back with Indy. This would allow Indy to get a RB before the Niners. I am under the assumption the Niners are looking at one of our hybrid OLBer's, and as such I am not willing to move behind them. Can anyone tell me who it was that they are reportedly interested in? It is someone that has been mentioned as possibly ending up in Dallas.

I thought they had serious manlove for Vernon Davis. Maybe they are positioning for a move up.

If they were trying to move up, I doubt they would have parted with #22.

I assume the 49ers will target Vernon Davis now. But if Hawk somehow is available, the 49ers nab him then look at Lewis or Pope as an alternative to Davis.

Furthermore, the 49ers may be in a position to clean up because they have room to drop even more in the draft if one of the qbs start to slide.

But I agree this hurts the Cowboys a bit. Nevertheless, I still think there are some good linebackers in this draft and still wouldn't be upset if we traded down with either Pittsburgh, Carolina or Indianapolis, assuming those teams are in love with the running backs and may want to assure they get the back they want.

Yep, I think the 49ers wanted to leapfrog several of the 3-4 teams like NE and Pitt to get a OLB.

They are interested in either Davis or Huff at 6. This eliminates any chance of us getting Huff through a trade up. (Not that I really thought we would ever do that).

The taking of Huff if it happens really changes the dynamics of the board. It means to me that a Defensive player could fall because another team will be all over Davis, but who??

I don't see Oakland/Buffalo/Detroit/Cleveland/Baltimore taking Davis. I could really see some movement (Trade wise) in the 7-10 range with a trade down.

I could see that.

I could also see them giving Smith some weapons by going (Davis and Holmes/Jackson)

Or going
Huff/OLB or WR

Is their HC a Def or Off guy?

If I were the Niners my picks would be Davis, then target the best of Wimbley, Lawson, or Carpenter...maybe even Greenway.

This may be a really good draft for them...
