Mason Crosby is still available. The Packers are going with the big leg of the rookie from Auburn with the huge leg, Anders Carlson.
They will go with the 2 guys for the first 2 weeks of camp and make changes as needed. Some teams will be cutting kickers that are doing well late in the preseason.

Calm down kiddo. It's just a fan forum. I asked what the plan was at kicker. Wasn't cutting on your kickers, get a grip. Just saying the dude from the USFL may not be the answer.
Correction, it's a Cowboys fan forum and the Green Bay Packers are one of our biggest competitors since the 60s,

we are not friends, we are sports football
enemies, and I don't feel like keeping my enemies close... got it..

Well Blue has been around here for awhile, and he is a Cowboys fan, go chew some cheese .
Thank you and I realize it's an open form and anybody can pose but I'm gonna give up Green Bay Packer fan a hard time.. I haven't been just around here a while I was at the old one that got shut down and I've been a fan since 1980 so yeah I do not like the Packers or the Packers fans they're on my list along with the Pittsburgh Steelers, 9ers, and the entire NFC East...

I believe my responses were rather tame compared to what I could have said..LOL

Here's the problem with that....

yes they should have cut him, just as a wake up call for him but I would have brought him back for training camp to compete with these other two guys...

you don't know where his mental state is and 80% of this place was on board with cutting him and not bringing him back...

so don't say that Jones is quote Unquote, normally do this thing"...

Seriously?? lol they didn't damage the team on purpose....

I remember when he was brought in in the offseason nobody wanted him here, period end of story there was all they could talk about is the scrap heap and bringing back players and blah blah blah

then when he was cut, nobody seemed to really care that much and now all of a sudden you want to use it as a negative for the Jones?? that typical for cluless fans..

a distinct advantage LOL yes he was good last year up until a point but at some you have to cut some players when you think that maybe they're in need of it but for me I would have brought him back for training camp just like Denver is there's no guarantees he's going to be good this year but I would have given him a shot to compete with these other two kickers..

I seem to remember last offseason, how everyone said it was historically bad and we ended up winning 12 games... now you're pinning your whole season's hopes on a kicker how about this how about calm down let's play the season and talk about the moves that didn't work or that did work.... For all we know we have a new Dan Bailey on this team you never know when you straight gold when you're least expecting it...

Here's my counterpoint on kickers , especially ones that you think are always going to bail you out with a long field goal.

how about this,

I rather the coach does not have as much faith in a kicker so that way they are more creative on second and third down and either go for it more or try to score more touchdowns etcetera etcetera

too many times you when you have a really good kicker that can kick from long you pretty much almost do the Jason Garrett thing where you are playing for a field goal instead of a field goal being the only option you have left...
 what does "80% of this place" have to do with anything?
Jones wouldn't do something that intentionally hurts the team? You mean like keeping Jerry Jones as GM?

I hope the guy has a good year. He made some big kicks and unfortunately missed some. No hard feelings toward him.

Maher is going to show he's over the "yips" and will do well for the Broncos, while the Cowboys will struggle to find a kicker better than Maher was last season.
I hope that's the case just so your prediction comes true. Then you can say how right you were and pat yourself on the back for being so clairvoyant...

The dude maybe the best kicker in the NFL. Def one of the biggest legs. He had one bad game. He's gonna make a 70 in Denver.
Don't know about that. His career has been mediocre overall, although he seemed to finally find his consistency the last two years before losing it at the end of the year. I agree that he has one of the biggest leg, but he's got to prove he can maintain the consistency. Last year was the first time Maher made more than 90 percent of his FGs, and it isn't that he's a young up-and-comer. He's 33.

I like that we are going with a younger player who can develop, but I would have loved to have Maher competing with him just in case that younger leg doesn't develop.

It hasnt therefore it cant of hurt the team without proof ok Nostradamus..LMAO premature much????? :lmao: Literally you're making a judgment without even looking at the season both what our kickers end up doing what our team ends up doing and what Brett Maher does with the Broncos how about we just watch the season play out before you start throwing around nonsense... Man last I checked I didn't realize Brett Maher what's the missing piece he's been what's been missing since 1998 that's crazy the mystery solved our chances hinge on a kicker who was without a job up until this week and that's been up and down throughout his entire career so is this your gonna be down or is it gonna be up I don't know nostradamus but thanks for letting me know that you think Jerry Jones hurt the team by letting a kicker go after the season played out and what he did in the playoffs..

Dude get real that's what I mean by 80% most normal fans can see that Brett Maher was having problems probably mental but we don't even know if he's back and yet you think he's the key to the whole season you know how ridiculous that sounds but keep on keeping on.. Maybe you should like do your local team I mean the Titans look like they need some support maybe they have a better kicker maybe their season they're going to the Super bowl and their kickers leg..

…exactly what I was thinking, brother

either real or imagined , it seems like kickers magically find their form after leaving us….Nick Folk comes immediately to mind

i assume you mean Aubrey……if so, what Is it you like about him?
Kid has a big leg and a soccer background which is good.

My concern though is he didn’t kick in college. So how is he going to fair when it’s late December, we are down 2 and it’s a 45 yarder on the road with 80,000 screaming to miss.

That’s why I was asking. My understanding is that he’s only kicked a football for just one season in his life so I was wondering what there was to “like” about him.

the only thing that I “like” about him is that he’s 6’3 and could possibly make a tackle……if he’s taught how to do so…….and I mean a real tackle, not a soccer tackle, lol

Sigh. Such nonsense. Yes, the Chiefs could cut Patrick Mahomes, bring in some UDFA QB's, and someone could make the same clownish agruments you're making above.

The Maher love is interesting to me. I don't remember him being a good kicker prior to coming to Dallas. Then he sucked when he came to Dallas...comes back to Dallas and looks great but bad Maher shows up in the playoffs.

Now I don't get why he couldn't even compete for a job here but if this organization didn't want him back especially Bones then there's something there that's an issue. Not sure what it is.
