The Broncos have that luxury because their season is over after Sunday. I doubt Sean isn't going to accept the HC job from one of the most dysfunctional teams in the league.

Payton will get $20+ million a year. Plus the team has to give up draft picks. Jerry will never agree to that

Nor do I think he should

If you look at their records, Payton and McCarthy are clones of each other
Jerry is never giving Payton full control over player personnel. The idea of Payton going to Dallas is DOA.

Payton will be able to resurrect Wilson and I think the odds are best for him going to Denver.

Payton will explore all options and seek to create a bidding war.

But I can't see him choosing Denver unless he got insane money and that was the deciding factor.
-poor cap situation
-Wilson in decline, but Broncos stuck with him
-No 1st, 2nd round picks for 2023 and 2024

They have a 1st rounder from the Chubb trade.

If I were Payton, I’d be waiting to see what LAC is going to do with their HC after the playoffs. The rumor amongst Chargers fans is that he’s done if they don’t win a game.

Their roster has talent and a very talented young QB on the rise, vs Denver who has an expensive reclamation project at the most important position on the field.

Plus, he could get a dope beach house and drink margaritas. But again, that’s my thinking process. Maybe he’s more of a cabin in the mountains guy.

Where ever Payton lands, he will have more power than he would have in Dallas. He was never, ever coming here without some changes our 80 year old face of the franchise would never agree to.

Coaches have big egos; I think Payton probably thinks he can restore Wilson; which if true means that team is not in all that bad a position, plus he can get some serious concessions with the situation they are in. On top of insane money.

If I was Payton I would wait out the Dolphins or Chargers job since the rumors are swirling already that McDaniel might get the axe

There's also compensation to the Saints to consider. Broncos already gave a bunch of picks to Seattle for Wilson.

This doesn't look like a great job at the moment. They may have to make Payton the highest paid coach in history.
If the deal goes through, it will be an interesting pairing of a veteran coach with with a veteran quarterback:
----the HC having just one QB in his tenure with the Saints
----the QB having just one HC during his time with the Seahawks

I would be shocked if the Dolphins fired their coach. He's actually done a really good job considering their injuries and QB situation
