Broncos trying to deal Warren

Some people here seem to be overlooking that he's never played a 3-4 NT in the pros. It would be good to get some opinions on how versatile this guy is and if he has the size to make the nose work before going all doe-eyed over him.

jmo...
My understanding is that the Phillips 3-4 does not require a traditional big stationary type NT. He had a great one in Williams in SD, but if Ratliff is considered a NT in this scheme then there is no reason Warren could not be.

He definitely has the size. At 325 lbs., he's about 10-112 pounds heavier than Ferguson. Size wouldn't be an issue.

Williams though is 6'03" 348 and the NT will still have the double team off the snaps

OK....may 10 (I will give you that) but 112? Cmon........:lmao2:

I actually wanted Warren the year before when he was a free agent. He has a combination of the perfect size and speed to do great things in this defense behind Ferguson. Get er done jerra

He's a 4-3 two technique DT, not a 3-4 NT.

I seriously doubt we'd even give him a courtesy sniff.

There is a reason Cleveland got rid of him and Denver wants to get rid of him......he sucks.

51 tackles and 2.5 sacks from a defensive tackle does not suck. Sorry. If we can talk to him and he accepts being a rotational backup id rather have Warren than any of the guys we have behind Ferg atm.

BU NT is our most glaring weakness atm.

Yea, I noticed I had an extra 1 in there somewhere. Does make a difference, doesn't it.

He may have played solely in the 4-3, but the writeup at the beginning of this thread states that he's better penetrating (slanting obviously) the offensive line than just playing his man straight up. IF this is true, he wouldn't be a good fit under Parcell's 3-4, but it sounds like he MAY be tailor made for Wade's 3-4. Since he's an AFC guy, I don't know that much about him. It doesn't hurt to give him a look. Doesn't mean we have to try to get him if we don't like what we see.

So we're suppose to trade for another teams trash?

no thanks i'll keep ours.

Warren is better than any backup NT on the roster.

no, but they will take coakley with a twist :D

Can you tell me the movie?

He's much better than what we have behing Ferguson. He's on the right side of 30 and could rotate with Fergy keeping both fresh throughout the game. If they would take a 5th or 6th, I'd do it in a second!!!!!

no he isnt

its another case of "big name-itis"

Hes a defensive tackle that got 52 tackles and 2.5 sacks last season.

I think you have a case of 'the media said he was a draft bust so I am going to parrot the same thing" - itis.

No one is calling for him to start but I'll take a guy that can put up numbers like that over two UDFA and a guy who was cut by two teams last year.

Play behind ferguson, didn't he play some 4-3 DE also and he is never healthy. I would consider trading Coakley for him and that is it.
