...just do not work. Maybe we should try something else on defense. I think he brings a lot to the team in terms of leadership and he's still a good linebacker, but the blitz attempts must stop.

I said the same thing. He kept getting stoned at the line and it allowed the middle of the field to be wide open on several plays.

Someone needs to tell him that a blitz doesn't work if you are standing still right on top of a guard at the snap.

I think you just have to give Clinton Portis some credit for picking up the blitz. He is pretty good at it.

hardly any of the blitzes worked tonight...Wade needs to design some new one's, I didnt notice any difference in any of them, and other than one play on the goalline where a safety came through (Ball I think) almost none of them had any success...and almost none of them resulted in a hit on the QB

They worked really well last year. We may need to put Butler in instead for that.

The results were the same last season too. It just doesn't work.

In fairness to Brooking, he got pulled down from behind twice and of coarse no call. The one on the Skins last FG drive was a horse collar and no call. It was unreal they didnt see that one.

He is VERY good at it.

Hate you Portis.

They gotta disguise them better, like the ol' Eagles Jim Johnson blitzes. Our blitzes are usually very vanilla and easy to identify.

If the opposition knows it's coming, it's going to get blocked up 85-90% of the time. Brooking is not good enough to defeat the RB if it's predictable.

Now if you put an athlete like Ware in there blitzing up the middle like that, it becomes more effective because he's athletic and talented enough to defeat the RB and get to the QB. Obviously we wont do that but just pointing out why it doesn't work...

Brooking only got through once or twice and he got met by Portis. There were at least 6 or 7 other times where Brooking just got stood up at the line.

This.

Has nothing to do with who's blitzing. It's the design of the blitz.

To be fair though, Brooking was very effective when run blitzing I thought.

Brooking and the rest of the defense only gave up 6 points, so I can't complain.

Overall, I'm very pleased wth our defense, but the blitzes did work for the most part - and some turnovers would help the offense greatly.

On the one, yes, he got blocked but that left Igor a straight path to McFlabb... Who then quickly chucked it to nobody.

Inexplicably, there was no grounding call.

Brooking should not be in the game on all 3 downs. He was clearly getting tired. Look at blitz 1 compared to the 4th qtr. Wade and Co. owe it to the team to get Lee or somebody ready to play.

Yea I noticed that. However, I did see on one of the blitzes Cliton Portis got a hell of a block on him. When Brooking blitz he doesn't always have to get to the qb. He just needs to at the very least free someone else to get to the qb. And that didn't happen as often as i'd like but what the Cowboys blitzed today they were successful.

He almost looked like he didn't want to get hit towards the end. i mean Portis was literally leaving his feet to keep Dm clean, so I guess that could take it's toll on anyone, which makes it more important for someone else to get ready to play.
