Browns give Myles Garrett a new deal

Micah simply has not impressed like Garrett has. and Garrett has been on a team that is much worse.

I doubt there is a good case for paying Micah as much.
Unfortunately, that is not how the market works.

Otherwise, Dak, Lawrence, Watson, Hurts etc would not be making more than Mahomes.

Myles Garrett two weeks ago: Trade me to a contender! I want to win!!

Myles Garrett today: $40 million APY to go 6-11 every year? Where do I sign???

IIRC, it wasn't all that long ago the Browns had several early picks, even having 3(?) in the first round of one draft, and they couldn't do squat with it.
If you’re going to let that stop you, you might as well just fold the franchise.

So all this talk by Garrett was simply him pressuring the Browns into giving him more money.....

Not surprised in the least. Good to know that isn't just a Dak thing

NEWSFLASH …. They do not have to get a deal done with Micah at this point. He can play on his current contact.
You do it early if you care about the cap. If you don't, then yeah, he doesn't need to be paid now.

If he plays out this year, 4 years at 40m will average 40m per year.
If they pay him now, same contract, and when you include his 5th year option, it averages out to 36.8m a year over 5 years.
Had they given him that same contract last year, including his 4th year and 5th year option, it averages out to 31.5m over 6 years. All examples use the same 4 year 40m contract. Same amount of time and money spent. Only the cap hits are smaller due to signing him early.

Now can we please trade Micah?
I’m really curious as to what kind of trade value he would have. Probably a lot… But when I put my GM hat on, how much is Micah worth at an average an annual value of 40+ million.

If we can find someone that would give us two first rounders… Someone that maybe is a fringe contender… So the possibility that they might crater and the first rounder is high…. I would move Micah in a heartbeat. But hey, I want us to embrace the pain… So we can be serious contenders in a couple years. Trade Mica… Trade Dak… embrace the pain.

Idiot move by the Browns.

He has 2 or 3 peak years left. Browns won't be good any time soon.

He could have jump started their rebuild.

Why do teams just stay content in being kinda competitive, delaying the inevitable for YEARS, just so they can say they were 8-9 instead of 4-13?

Oh wait....scratch that
If I’m Cleveland I’m drafting Cam Ward. Watson won’t be ready any time soon. Cleveland is the land of QB failures but keep trying at least.

These contracts are getting out of hand. How long before a player demands $500 million? Feels like we're almost there.
And guess what would follow soon afterwards....... $1500.00 a seat tickets. The NFL would be digging their own grave if they keep letting the salaries spiral out of control any worse than they are already.

Hahahahaha LMAO! The stupidity of Jerry just keeps on giving me a good laugh!
I think it's more Stephen than Jerry. The direction the Cowboys have been going over the last decade or more, relative to going after free agents, correlates with Stephen Jones having even more control over player acquisition and money.
