We can't "lean" him in the right direction in coverage? I know, they are taught this at a time in TC, but really, what are NFL coaches doing DURING the season? It seems coaches (outside of OC/DC) have a pass in terms of their players being ready but this is lazy coaching. I will say that Cowboys NFL coaching is LAZY. Is that what it takes? We have whitewashed every other term and player coming from the boys the last 15 years? OUR PLAYERS ARE NEVER PUT IN an ADVANTAGE!!! Yes, the country club atmosphere has gotten to the castrated coaches...We as fans can say that TOO, not just the player, the coaching atmosphere doesn't encourage Winning unless you hd.ave the perfect play called.

Based on the history of ridiculously exaggerated numbers out of UNC, I wouldn't buy that 4.37 time at all.

Every year we hear how some UNC prospect is going to put up ridiculous numbers at the combine and they always disappoint.

Even if Carter ran a 4.5, that's still plenty fast for a LB.

I dont get it either.....................Carter is better than Sims, he just is.

Broadus on Talking Cowboys is always going off about how the team favors Sims but Carter is hands down the better player. He doesnt understand why they keep putting the best player on the bench. I have to agree with Broaddus, it doesnt make much sense, especially considering we are the 32nd ranked defense. Its not like the defense is going to get any worse with Carter in there.

Jeff Heath didn't run a 4.35 at the combine and still tracked down Calvin Johnson. Dunno why people think a 40 time defines football speed.

Sims is a decent backup at best. They are hurting Carter's development for sure.

I see Lee all over the field, and I don't see Carter or hear his name mentioned. I can't tell when he is in the game or out. He's made little impact and the fact that he can't beat out Ernie Sims is disturbing.

Guy is at his best chasing things sidleline to sideline. Liability in coverage, particularly in seam situations.

Agree, he has excellent pursuit and tackling skills. I prefer him over Sims and it's not close. He has to make better reads in pass protection. I actually love when we have him as a nickel blitzer rather than put him in coverage. There could be some zone blitzes that drop a lineman in coverage zone and send Carter instead, and the trade-off in coverage would not be too bad. That would be more of Rob Ryan type of play though.

Am I the only one that thinks he could be a force as an edge rusher? Guess Monte doesnt agree. Also what happened to his special teams prowess? All those blocked punts on ST at UNC. Is this guy just misused?

Maybe he needs another off season. The light doesn't always come on immediately as we have seen plenty of times before.
