Bruce Carter's Play

Spencer is okay but there were times when it seemed like Weeden had forever to throw the ball and Ware was going up against the All-Pro LT today. Spencer needs to make more plays in the 4-man rush if he wants to be an 8-figure player. He just does it too infrequently given all the attention that Ware attracts for me to give him a multi-year $10M+/yr contract.

I'd be fine to bring him back for Ahmad Brooks and Kamerion Wimbley type money or around $7M/yr.

I can hack the eight million since it ain't my money.

But his attitude that he deserves Ware money more than over the top for me.

Playing pretty good on this team isn't enough.

You can argue Spencer has made just as many plays if not more than Ware. Not saying that as a fact or saying it to slight Ware its just a credit to how good Spencer has been. This team's lack of pass rush is not because of Ware and Spencer. We need one more guy on that line to help Ratliff, Ware and Spencer out.

This guy was all over the field today... He and Anthony Spencer are playing on another level right now.
The early season talk of Conner being the better option to start is a distant memory:D

Go Tarheels:)

I really like how Spencer is playing this year. I would love that we sign him. His been a difference maker and at times his been playing better than Ware. I say try and get him signed. I don't want us to be in a position once again trying to find another player to replace his productivity. We screwed up on Laurent and I hope we don't screw up on Spencer.

Bruce Carter is an absolute stud. Can't wait to see him and Lee togather for the next decade.

I have always been a Spencer supporter even when it was trendy to bash him. Not resigning him would be a big mistake.

Just measure Almost Anthony against Bruce or Lee.

Neither of the other two are first round choices. But they both show more in their time here than AA has in his time here.

My opinion. Disagree if you like. But for his draft slot and what he is being paid, I'd like to see him make a real impact.

I have no idea what the hell you are watching. Spencer has been balling. No he is not going to put up a 10-20 sack season, but the kid is playing ball and making impact plays and not everything is about sacks.

There are 4 impact players on the defense this year, and one can make an argument he has made the most impact plays out of all of the them.

Ware
Spencer
Lee
Carter

Spencer's playing really well, because he's a really good player. You saw what happens to the defensive unit when he goes out. I still think we'll get him signed to a long-term deal in the offseason. We've got enough other needs to fill without poking another big hole in the boat.

After reading up on Carter when he was drafted I was thinking that something has to be wrong, there is no way he is going to be as good as some predict, especially with the injury. Holy cow, he is an absolute manimal. I have no problem saying the he is the fastest LB in the NFL or claiming that he and Lee are going to be as dangerous of a tandom as Willis and Bowman.

Connor had two nice plays that I noticed today. I really liked the goal line stop. Sims was suppose to be more in cover and is said to have a hard time getting off blocks but I still feel more comfortable with Sims playing.

When did he say he deserves "Ware money"??

He's been playing much better than "pretty good" for a long time now.

In the games he's played, he has more pressures than Ware.

I agree about Bruce.

But Almost Anthony is wearing thin with me.

I am not Spencer's biggest fan, but this was his best game of the season. He's been producing big plays the last 2 games. The sack, strip and recovery was sweet but my favorite play was when he absolutely blows up Trent Richardson.

What about him getting beat for the 1st TD?

He is good against the run, below average in coverage and average in the pass rush.

We can't afford to give that kind of a player a $10M/yr deal at age 29 as he will be at the end of the season.

I'd rather just franchise him for a year while we continue to try and find his replacement.

I'd be find with giving him Ahmad Brooks or Kam Wimbley money with a smallist SB ($10M). The thing is I bet such a contract has been offered and rejected multiple times. I think if he went somewhere else he'd discover he is Alvin Harper II - a good player who benefitted from all the attention paid to the guy across the field from him but who disappeared when he was the centre of attention.

Yeah, I like Spencer too but I think of him a lot like Sensabaugh.

We can do better, we can do worse. You can win with him on your team, but he's not gonna win games for you.

I wouldn't sign him to a long-term if it meant big money.

Bruce Carter is a beast. One thing this organization has done right was draft Carter.

Let's not forget Sean Lee.
