Brugler 7 round mock 4/16/25

If Turner fell to round 3 he would be a great pickup.

Overview

Three-year starter with “tweener” measurables but excellent musculation and lean mass. Turner plays with unlimited activity and a heavy dose of violence. He has a quick first step and an explosive punch. He’s capable of holding the point against single blocks or working the gaps with foot quickness. His pressure rate is hurt by a lack of length but he’s a restless rusher who hunts blockers’ edges and will eventually leak through if the play extends. His athleticism and chase quickness will see him in or near the pile with some frequency as a future starter.

Strengths

  • Plays with a relentless level of aggression.
  • Gets off the snap and into the neutral zone quickly.
  • Quick to show-and-go from one gap to the next as a penetrator.
  • Power and leverage to punch and tilt blocker at the point.
  • Neverending series of slaps and counters during his rush.
  • Works to find rush openings with active hands and feet.
  • Capable of rushing from a variety of alignments.

Weaknesses

  • Lacks mass and will get swallowed by double teams.
  • Aggression leads to lingering with his block attacks.
  • Unable to leverage his rush by utilizing his length.
  • Pass rush could use better bend to quicken transitions.
  • Cost his team with too many 15-yard penalties during career.

we need two of this type; platoon them. He will wear down due to his lack of size playing inside if he is taking forty snaps a game.
But like a lot of his traits.

Not a fan. Doesn't really improve our defense what so ever. Looks like the Cowboys fa class, bunch of depth pieces, no thank you!

I’m not crazy about Judkins in the 2nd. Seems early for this type of back.

Something like this would be about what I would expect. Still dont like the Golden pick but its typical of the FO. Turner offers position flex to a DL that needs an infusion of talent. Judkins there would be nice but DB might be more likely.

I'm fine with this draft, as close to reality as possible. But there's one point I think many are getting carried away with, and that's speed. I believe that before speed, there should be the ability to produce. If we compare T-Mac and Golden in terms of statistics and production, we have:
T-Mac was the clear WR1 in Arizona, where no one else came close in terms of production. Despite not being as fast as Golden, he had the longest gain of 74 yards. Golden had acceptable production and shared production with Isaiah Bond, Ryan Wingo, and DeAndre Moore Jr.
Golden's longest gain with his speed was 54 yards. T-Mac had two seasons with high production, Golden only had one and didn't reach 1,000 yards. As we can see, Golden wasn't a factor with his speed to produce more. In the NFL, there are very fast CBs that Golden's speed wouldn't scare them off. So, for me, if they're going to stay at pick 12 and T-Mac is available, they should take him. As for the RB, many have TreVeyon Henderson very high. The pluses I see are that he averaged 7.1 yards rushing in 2024 and generates good yards through the air, but this RB hasn't been consistent, and I don't see him as very durable. But Quinshon Judkins has had three seasons of consistent production and looks more durable and stronger than Tre, although it's clear Tre produces more with fewer carries than Quinshon. But I think the durability issue would be a factor for me, and I would choose Quinshon.
So, based on availability, my first and second picks would be T-Mac/Quinshon.

Out.

Do not like Golden at 12. He'd be one of my least favorite picks.

I see Golden as thousand dollar rims on a $500 car at this point.
People are obsessed with this idea that we need a speed merchant opposite Lamb. So they are willing to look beyond Golden's flaws (suspect hands, etc.) just to get someone who runs fast. McMillan is a far better choice for us if we have to go WR (and I am not a fan of another 1st round WR).

Look at Philly, they have an explosive passing game with DeVonta Smith, who is in the same class as Lamb in terms of speed, and Brown who is no speed merchant but a strong, physical WR.

If we have to go WR in this first round, give me McMillan to pair with Lamb. That's like Brown and Smith.

Turner plays DT3? He beats Ody out?

Is MLB key to run defense?
IKR?
Trade down and pick up an extra 2nd.
Get 2 run stopping DTs and the best available RB.
The 2 DTs then change the entire complexion of the defense.

Quit ******* around already and run the ball and stop the run!

Newsflash: WRs and corners ain't stopping the run.
It's kinda what's been keeping this team from being genuine playoff contenders.

My gosh with the wide receiver crap already.

I can dig most of that. I'd prefer to at least double dip at DT (more of an NT type like Nazir Stackhouse), possibly instead of the safety since we do have options there already and he does have us taking a CB/S as well. Not sure where Stackhouse will go, but we can shift the players/positions around some on the third day of the draft.

I think we might have to come to terms with it.

With Brugler mocking him to us, and Broaddus saying stuff like this, seems to be a 'thing'

Hard to read what Golden is, because he played with Bond, who also drew coverage.

I definitely think 12 is too rich for Golden.

This seems like a reach for need draft. IMO

Well said. 100% agree.

If Golden is the BPA, trade down.

Also, does Golden really help you in the red zone? I think Golden is a smokescreen for all the Texas fanboys.

At 12, Hampton would be a bigger difference maker.
