Brooks is basically crippled with that injury history. This dude cant stay on the field, has multiple bad injuries.

All that before he played one snap in the NFL. No thanks to injured Running Backs from College. Maybe in the third but never in the second.

Give me Jordan Morgan OT Arizona in the First or the Kid from Oregon State and get help on the defense (DT or LB) in the second.

In 3 seasons Schoonmaker had 54 catches for 637 yards
while Brooks just last season 1,139 yards and didn't even play a full season!
LOL awful comparison...
I would really hope that a RB and a TE have different numbers...it's not like I'm comparing them as players lol.

But that's not the point. The point is that neither of them is a special enough player to be a real difference-maker in the NFL. It's taking a player with no upside just for the sake of taking them.

Brooks sounds like a perfect 2nd round Cowboys pick.

LOL.

I will say, as mediocred a Schoonmaker seems, his blocking skills seemed elite for a rookie, I'm finally settling in with the Schoon pick.
Also for the record, I don't want brooks, but because he's an injury guy and that's mainly why. There's also some really good sleeper RB's in this draft.

I want a bigger back to run the ball, and there are only 4-5 size guys in this draft. Pollard was too small to run inside and will be gone anyway.
They say never pigon hole players or picks. But it seems pretty easy for our top 3 picks this year.
1) Oline - either tackle or Center. Depending what Tyron does.
2) RB - if we want a good strong runner In a weakish draft class, may have to take one early. If we don't grab a big back - what the hell was the Schoomacker pick for ?
3) LBer - looks to be a few good ones, could go 2nd round or 3rd. Depending who.is available.
Again can swap RB/ LBer in 2nd/3rd rounds.
No 4th, 5th or 6th really hurts after last years **** show. But we may get 2 6ths or a 5th/6th as comp picks.
This is a year we may actually spend some off-season money to fill spots, but I'm not holding my breath on that.

100% agree on Brooks…man just can’t get on board with the injured players. Too many burns.

We pooped the bed last year not getting a RB. Class was twice as deep.
I complained about not getting a RB last year, and everyone got mad at me and said Deuce was a amazing pick and gonna be the sleeper pick of the draft.

The only RBs I wanted last year were Bijon, Gibbs (really wanted Gibbs), and Miller (TCU).

Both Bijon and Gibbs were picked way before us in Round 1.

Miller was drafted fairly early in Round 3 by the Saints, he did little to nothing for them this year. Basically had a season similar to Schoonmaker.

Tank Bigsby was a RB we were getting linked to, but he was taken early in Round 4 by the Jaguars. Didn't do much this season.

Achan of the Dolphins was the best RB behind Gibbs and Bijon, but he had 2 crazy games that really skewed his numbers and was injured a couple of times throughout the season.

Point is, last years RB class underperformed and glad we didn't take a RB since Bijon and Gibbs were gone.

Has us taking

24. Tyler Guytin OT Oklahoma
56. Jonathon Brooks RB Texas
I would rather draft RB Audric Estime Notre Dame 3rd or 4th round......very productive, strong, and powerful, with good speed. No way I'm burning a 2nd on RB.

Hell, use 56 on Jackson Powell-Johnson ( No.1 or 2 Center )

A lot of those guys just need more opportunity.

Bigsby had a lot of opportunities early in the season. Did nothing.

Miller had an opportunity early in the season with Kamara suspended, but did not capitalize.

Achan very well could be injury prone.

Great RBs usually step in day 1 and show their abilities.

Probably going to need to see more than 40/50 snaps to determine if a kid is good or not IMO.

All I'm saying is RB is the easiest position to transition to from College to NFL. If they aren't making a difference early on, they probably aren't going to much of a difference maker down the road.

I guess Spears in Tenessee is another RB who made an impact in his opportunities. He'll probably have a big year next season.

Who did you want us to draft at RB last year?

There was probably 8/10 dudes in total…including everyone you’ve mentioned.

Brugler always has some terrible takes for the Cowboys. I don't know if it's intentional or if the guy is that dumb?

For instance, you would have to be totally nuts to take OT Tyler Guytin anywhere near the first 3 rounds. The guy needs a lot of work, is consistently late with his hands, is slow on his feet, falls off run blocks and gets misdirected by defenders who get inside leverage on him.

Result: Hard Pass

As for Jonathon Brooks, he's an OK RB, but he is limited and always gets injured. Definitely not worth a top 2 round pick.
