Bruglers updated 2 round mock

If not taking Jeanty - I would wait till 3rd/5th to add a RB - this class is very deep. Unless Johnson or Hampton fall to 2nd rounder - then I'd probably pull trigger on RB earlier

Really need to grab atleast one of those top DTs in the 1st two rounds

Graham/Grant/Harmon/Nolen/Williams/Walker

Ideally - a small trade down in the 1st - Grant/Harmon would probably be there. Get a 3rd/4th back in trade - go WR in 2nd (Golden) and DE/RB 3rd/4th

The possibility of that happening is a lot closer to nil than 100. Jerry and Stephen have established their philosophy. That's why our best chance at getting a complementary player to Lamb is either an older player coming off injury like Diggs or a trade, which the Joneses have shown they will do but probably not at WR after trading a fourth for Mingo.

Otherwise, we have to rely on the draft with too many holes to fill with our premium picks.

I disagree. Fans say to wait when a class is deep, but the longer you wait to draft any position, the harder it is to hit a home run. I mean, fans will point to a hit like Bucky Irving in the fourth, but then you have other fourth-round picks like Braelon Allen (3.6 per carry last year), Sione Vaki (14 rushing yards), Jalen Wright (3.0) and Will Shipley (78 yards). Ray Davis (4.3) and Isaac Guerrendo (420 yards) might be the only other fourth-round RBs you can say had a successful season.

That gives you four out of seven misses, which is typical for the later rounds and maybe even a little more successful than usual.

The third-rounders last year were Marshawn Lloyd (2.5), Blake Corum (3.6) and Tre Benson (4.6), so one of three showed well. Doesn't mean they can't turn it around, just illustrates that the odds of success get worse the longer you wait.

Think we sorta agree - I said if it's not Jeanty or the other top 2 backs (which I would take in the 2nd) - you look to go RB in the 3rd - which is probably where most of the rest will go.

I wouldn't take Johnson or Hampton with the 12th pick - now a larger trade down to the bottom of 1st, maybe - but we better make sure to get some DT/DE help early

Oh, I didn't see that you'd take the two in the second. I think there might be a couple more worthy of that second-round pick, but it depends on which draft expert you ask. I think the Sampson kid might be up there and Penn State's Singleton might be a good choice there with more of an every-down build. Sampson would likely need to be part of a one-two punch.

If there aren't any additions along the DL with really good players in FA, all this does is just continue the repeat the issues we've seen for a decade. We've had loaded offenses before only to be outdone by defenses that stunk and couldn't stop the run.

So if we are going WR and RB with our first two picks, then there better be some real nice defensive FA additions.

I agree but do you pass on a higher-graded offensive player for the sake of drafting defense? It appears we are drafting in the range where the players with true 1st grades bottom out. We could have a couple of players with 1st round grades ( last 2-3 ) but not necessarily positional needs, OL or TE for example. Do you pass on those players for DT/DE with the bottom 15 rankings?

This is why some say never pass on an elite blue chipper regardless of position.

The unfortunate aspect of having so many needs is that we can't fill them in one offseason. Think these two picks can make the offense dynamic assuming the O-line continues to develop. But like you mentioned the defense would be terrible! We will probably loose Osa and Golston in free agency. Leaving us with only 1 DT on the roster (Mazi). It is amazing how terrible of a job the Jones have done maintaining just adequate players on the defensive side of the ball! I can't name another team that has the needs we have on that side of the ball. At least 1 starting DT, relying on Kneeland at the other DE, only 1 healthy CB and LB on the roster currently that would be considered adequate, with average at best safety play. If it is going to be an offensive draft with the 1st 2 picks, we better get contributions from multiple 5th round pick to have any chance to be competitive on the defensive side of the ball.
 
I know Burden is cnuball’s guy but I’m really dubious how much he can contribute to our offense. We need a #2 caliber receiver now (Tolbert is good as our #3) to pair with Lamb.

Maybe Burden is a savant and picks up the offense and learns how to run the full route tree his rookie season. I just really see his most impact early on running bubble screens, reverses, and go routes, but that’s kinda what we do with Turpin already.

He needs refinement, but I think he’s better than most give him credit for. Go watch all of his 23 snaps - a little more diverse than 24.

Do I think he’ll route people up year 1? No. Do I think he can come in and beat 1:1s doing basic routes like slants, crossers, digs, curls etc? 100%.

A good OC would certainly help him do more year 1.

I get that a good RB can help take pressure off of a defense, but this is the year that you can trade down and get a very good DT. Mazi is a bust. Go get a good DT, gather another 2nd or 3rd for the trade down. Then address RB, LB, DE, WR in that order.

the devastating sad fact is this won't change next FA either -Jones family has given up on the SB.
