They drafted their QB of the future (Jason Campbell 1st Round Pick) in last years draft. He will be given every chance to take over that position next year.
No he wont.
Not if Gibbs is back.

They drafted Campbell because Gibbs gave up on Ramsey(another 1st rounder and probably too soon).

As tot he initial queston I believe Bledsoe is a bit better. You can win woth both though as was shown this season.

At least he has pedigree. Who do we got? Romo and Henson? I would not have been upset last year if Parcells would have drafted Aaron Rogers.
Pedigree? Being a first round draft pick does notgive you pedigree. Having a family history of playing football in the NFL gives a guy pedigree. Does Campbell have family history in football? he might. But he did not get it from just being a reach of a 1st rounder.

Since it seems like on this board that we tend to blast Bill for not developing a yound franchise quarterback I have a question. Would you rather have Brunell or Bledsoe going into next year? It seems Joe Gibbs hasn't developed a young quarterback either? I wonder what their board is saying?
I wish I could combine Bledsoe's arm and passing ability with Brunnell's mobility and decision making...then I'd be satisfied.

Henson has as much pedigree as Campbell. Some may argue that he has MORE.

Henson looked better his 1st year here then his 2nd year.

I attribute that to the coaches trying to change his throwing motion. If he was left alone to throw how he always has, he not only would have looked much better, he would have been the backup qb and would be pushing for the #1 job.

You know, 15-20 years ago when a QB was drafted he would spend a couple years on the bench no matter what. Becuase there was no financial pressure to get him on the field, teams could afford to let him get up to speed in practice before putting him in games.

QB's now have no such luxery. Their contracts dictate that.

Because Henson is not on the field is NOT NOT NOT retarding his progress. There is no over-riding reason he needs to be arbitrarily thrown in the deep end with a prayer that he can swim.

BP doesn't waste time with guys he doesn't see a future in. If he hated him he wouldn't be here. Because Henson has a very cap friendly contract we can afford to give him time to mature and feel comfortable before putting him on the field. We should be happy about that.

Patience.

He signed an 8-year deal for a reason (for us). He was out of football for a few years. He is on pace of where we thought he would be when we signed him. Some people argued then that after the Hutch situation, that Henson should sit for not only a year, but at least 2 years before even being allowed to compete for the starting job. Well it has been 2 years, and he's on Pace IMO. We'll see how he is after he lights up NFLE.

He will compete for #2 this year, and then will be competing in 2007 for the starting job.
