Thats fair. And you can move on to other peoples questions b/c I know were all itching for solid intel. Just my quick rebuttal.


Mcnabb is an aging QB and needs a new rich deal. Spears is a young 3-4 DL who never misses games and can fill an important position for them. Remember we got a 4th for Fasano.

Obviously youd work out the comp w/ Miami before the draft and pull the trigger on it if things fall the right way.


We also have Marcus Dixon ready to make his case for the roster this year.

i have not heard anyone that has Thomas over Berry...but i havent talked with all the teams...the teams that I have talked to all have Berry on top...Mays is the interesting one...I really do think the Cowboys need him gone before they pick...maybe Cincy @21 but I wonder if Mike Zimmer has visions on Roy Williams in his head...Mike was there when we drafted him...I talked to a scout that thought Iupati could play ROT in a pinch but you could also teach him to snap. I really like Pouncey...the way the Cowboys like to get the guards on the edge, he would be great. At center, he would be a heck of a 2nd level blocker...played at a big time school against outstanding comp...what is not to like?

Use him for one more year then let him walk if his play hasn't gotten any better or try and sign him to a new deal...again...we all know what Jerry and Stephen think of Spears because of the lack of movement on anytype of a deal but do just give up on and I am using your words "a young, dependable, important position" starter?

To me it would be more about relocating assets to more important positions. If it were a 3rd rounder we got for him that would help us move around a bit more. Maybe not in the 1st b/c Iupati is so hot, but 1 thing you could is move out of 59. IMO 59 is a tricky spot and we could miss on some key guys. Like Nate Allen, Vlad Ducasse, Roger Saffold, or Alualu among others.(A lot of WR's and OLB's projected to go late 2 and I dont see that)



So maybe do something like this

1st - Mccourty/Pouncey
Mid 2nd- Alualu/Saffold
3rd - JD Walton/ Akwasi- Owusu- Ansah
3rd - Brandon Spikes



You can talk me into the DE depth next year being Igor,Alualu, Bowen, Hatcher, Dixon. But one thing I do not want is a lack of young talent put into the OL

Hey bryan, this is a little off topic, but I know you have said on DC's show that you grew up having season tickets to the cowboys. I moved across the country in feb 03 so I could have them. I always wanted to be in Texas stadium listening to Brad and Babe. I am really bummed to see it go, had I grown up here it would have been worse.

Are you sorry to see it go and do you have one great memory of the place?

I agree.. With as much as we run the power play and with Felix most likely being the featured guy we need some guys who are good at blocking in space.

I think Pouncey is a better athlete than Iupati and has more upside as a center / guard.

But if for some reason they are wanting to move Davis to a tackle position eventually than I kinda like Iupati better at Right Guard over Pouncey.

you guys @ South Florida play some darn good football...that coach that got canned really knows what a good player looks like...I know the scouts really like Allen...the most imporatant thing that teams are looking for now a days in a safety is his ability to cover first...Allen fits that bill...he is 6004 207 and I believe in his pro day ran 4.42...in this NFC East...you better have some range in your safety but you better be physical with all these tight ends and backs as well...I know they really like Earl Thomas from Texas but so does have the NFL...I have heard nothing but good things about Allen...DC you made a comment about Gaither and are you just doing the deal for Ozzie and the Ravens...I think you make an excellent point...maybe they are just waiting for someone to do the deal for them, then just match...

They are looking at Ducasse as a tackle...as far as the 27th pick...I think that might be a stretch...I know at the combine....they were very impressed with his athletic ability....here is one of those scouting terms for you..."very raw..."

There was another post on here with a scout who questioned his mental toughness.

If I am taking a player who is going to be asked to play both tackle and guard, I want the player who is tough enough to forget mistakes and plugging forward. Per that scout, he basically begged to get out of playing tackle after being beaten. I would put him "in the box" so to speak for that, I do not care how physically talented he is. He is raw and will need to have that edge to take the good with the bad and learn, not shrink from a challenge.

Good question, I look forward to his response. Buffalo did it with Jarius Byrd last year and was exactly what we need: a ballhawk.

Interstingly enough, the hot safety now (Thomas) is one of those CB/S tweeners. I have read some stating that Chris Cook and Akwasi Owusu-Ansah fit that bill. Donovan Warren might have to switch as he has speed issues. Myron Lewis is another name I keep seeing along with Nolan Carroll.

my family had tickets in texas stadium for 20 years...my father gave them up when I went to work for the Packers in December of 1991 because he didn't want to give Jerry money to buy players to beat me...that didn't work out so well...I have so many great memories of Texas Stadium but the one that I will always remember was when Clint Longley replaced an injured Roger Staubach and threw that 50 yard bomb to Drew Pearson to beat the Commanders...that pass was a thing of beauty and in typical Pearson fashion he split two Commander defensive backs to make the catch...when I was a visitor at Texas Stadium (Packers, Eagles) I would always go into the stands and meet the people that sat in those seats...I had several bad memories as well but the worst was when I was with the Eagles and our holder Tommy Hutton of the Eagles dropped the snap when we were trying to kick the game winning field goal...that was a long flight back to Philly...

if you look at the DL stats via football outsiders, Spears side does rather sub par:

You could plug Hatcher and Bowen in there and get the same production. Why not trade him now and get something for him? Then get someone like Linval Joseph in the draft, who is a beast and really underrated IMO.
