Gumbel is terrible, but the sad truth is that he'll likely be back again.

Look at Matt Millen. He continually gets his contract renewed even though he gets progressively worse every year.

Maybe Im the only one.......

But I don't watch any game for the outstanding commentary in the first place. I watch the game because of what happens on the field. I could really care less who is in the booth because its not like they are saying anything that the action on the field doesn't say for itself.

So you turn the sound off I guess? I watch it for the game too but of course you hear the commentary. And when it is horrendous, it's kind of a distraction from the game. I can't believe Gumble was ever hired to do the job, I assume there must have been auditions. I am not kidding, I hear better commentating on local radio broadcast of HS games where some kids dad is doing the play by play.

He is pretty bad, but better than some others we all could name. I like Vermeil too.

I challenge you to name somebody (anybody) worse. As bad as some others are, there is nobody is Gumble's league. I am absolutely shocked he is on the air. Vermeil is good and always has been.

I've chosen to tune out the bad (Gumbel) and focus in solely on what the good (Vermeil) has to say. They need to put Deion (and perhaps Marshall) in the booth with Vermeil and let Gumbel go back to the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade emcee duties.

Agree, nobody really cares if he mispronounces the balloons names or doesn't know which direction the parade is moving.
