Getting rid of Bryant wasn't all bad. What was bad is what we got for him. Chances are Quincy Morgan won't even be on this team come September, and that's just pathetic.

I don't think the shirt throwing thing was that bad. Nor do I blame Bryant for being upset. It's a shame that some people on here whine and moan about Parcells bringing in his old players and showing favoritism while at the same time complaining about players who do the same thing.

Anyone who thinks Bryant had a fair shot at starting over Terry and Keyshawn are kidding themselves.

We should have gotten a better player for Bryant. Either that, or a draft pick.

Big Catch: Bryant Impressing Browns

By TOM WITHERS, AP Sports Writer 3 minutes ago

As for the run-in with Parcells, Browns coach Romeo Crennel spoke with Cleveland offensive coordinator Maurice Carthon, who was with Dallas, to find out more about Bryant's character. "I asked Maurice what happened and he told me. That was it," Crennel said. "I really wasn't worried that Antonio and I would have a confrontation. If he did, well, I'm the head coach."

In other words, if AB tries that again, he'll be hittin' the road . . . again.

Your "football logic" sucks, frankly.

First, Young didn't rip off his uniform and toss it at Steifert.

Second, Young went up to Steifert and apologized that day. And went before the press, admitted he was wrong and apologized to the fans for his outburst.

Third, while Young needed to be pulled away, security wasn't involved.

NOW, show me the simularities between a man humble enough to admit to both his coach and the fans he screwed up, and that brat nicknamed AB.
First, which is worst? Throwing your jersey at your coach in a media-controlled environment or cursing your SB-winning coach out in front of millions of TV viewers?

Second, Bryant apologized PUBLICLY as well. Your point here is moot.

Third, Bryant didn't resist security and his "escort" off the field wasn't as bad as it appeared.

As for that brat nicknamed AB, are we truly any better off with his replacement? Maybe you need to seriously contemplate your response to THAT question before you attempt to continue this conversation. :bang2:

Knee jerk would have been to cut the guy on the spot. He gave AB another chance (like he hadn't had any before), and AB still acted like a child. He'll blow up again in Cleveland. Its inevitable. He's got a short in his brain wiring. And when he does, Crennel will get rid of him just as quickly, if not sooner.
I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you...

Let's test your "knowledge" of football history, o.k. And I'll try not to go back too far lest I be accused of being assinine myself.

Here we go: In the 1994 season, the Philadelphia Eagles played S.F. at (then) Candlestick Park. In a scene which is now being used as a poster child for that 49er's team, after it was clear (at least to the Head Coach) that Philadelphia had put the game beyond reach (they went on to win 40-8, in case you were wondering) the Head Coach (George Seifert) elected to withdraw his quarterback from the game, whose competitive juices, however, had not yet waned. The competitor in him wanted to keep fighting. Once on the sidelines--in a nationally-televised game mind you, the otherwise straight-laced, honey-mouthed quarterback went on an expletive-laced tirade aimed at--guess who??--the head coach and eventually had to be restrained.

If we follow your "logic" about being confrontational with the head coach, then it seems to me that STEVE YOUNG should have been waived before the clock struck midnight that Sunday night. After all, at that point in the season, the 49er's had yet to hit their stride which eventually landed them the Lombardi trophy the following January, and so whose to say that after that thorough butt-kickin by the Eagles their season wouldn't have tanked anyway? Simply cut your losses with your never-can-win-the-big-one quarterback and waive him for being "confrontational" with the head coach. Ohh, I forgot, we're talking Steve Young vs. err, Antonio Bryant, right? For your sake, I hope Antonio Bryant doesn't turn out to at least as good as Jimmy Smith if not better.

Was he immature? Yes. Does this necessarily make him an uncontrollable trouble maker? No. Should we have kept him? Without question. Will we regret trading him? Ditto!

...I watched that game. One thing I can tell you about Steve Young is that he didn't try to lose the game by throwing intentionally to the defender. He didn't intentionally fumble the ball, quite frankly although he played his part in the loss, he didn't pout and intentionally throw the game away.

The same can't be said about AB when he was here with us in his final days. He quit playing. He was a quitter. There is absolutely no comparison between Young and Bryant.

The only thing similar was the immature emotion, but definitely not the results on the field.

Campo and Gailey fan I take it?

What Antonio Bryant did is outright insubordination and disrespect to their boss, and it would get anyone fired from any job. Period. Any coach worth his weight would not put up with it. I sincerely hope that some of you guys aren't running companies.

Bryant would have started the majority of the year had he just shut his mouth and paid his dues. Evidently, that was beneath Bryant. He wanted to have the starting job handed to him in May.

We didn't get more for Bryant because for some reason the rest of NFL General Managers didn't think he was the sure fire Hall of Famer that some of you think he is. As Marv Levy says, "Beware of the guys that will win you a game, but lose you two." That's Antonio Bryant in a nutshell.

Should have been released outright, really.

A friend of mine was at the Steelers vs. Cowboys game last season...AB's last game with the Cowboys, if you recall. My friend watched AB the whole time. He told me that AB REPEATEDLY beat his defender but was REPEATEDLY treated as an invisible man by Testeverde and the offensive game plan. I wouldn't call AB a quitter, but if you were treated as if you were invisible at work, you would be a liar if you said that it wouldn't bother you--at some point.

You and others can repeatedly take your shots at me and others who think the AB trade was absolutely foolhardy. I don't care. But I will go on record here and now and say that AB's performance on the field will one day firmly establish that the Cowboys made a stupid decision.

Let the shots roll!

None of the AB apologists seem to have an answer for why BP could only get Morgan, not a pick, for AB. There certainly was no one beating down the Boys door offering anything for him. BP got all he could get- which says it all. Crennel has very little down in Cleveland- and is willing to take a chance. I am willing to be that it will blow up in his face, sooner or later. The lure of a Fat FA contract might-MIGHT -get him to behave for a while- but that is all.

... for size. Compare what Young did to AB not getting off the field and blowing a timeout for your favourite team who is trying to win the frickin game? Let us know what you would think if it were Zuriel Smith who pulled that stunt?

No, let's try this one, Zuriel is suppose to run a sideline "out" pattern and clear the middle of the field, but instead he runs an "in" and leads the defender right into a pass intended for Witten. When his team mates ask him what his problem he just shrugs. Where's the moot point on that one?

Instead of griping about this team because it ended up with Morgan be happy that Bryant isn't here to pull his nonsense because that's all he had to offer at the end. It was clear to those who watched the games and the media and players who witnessed his "greatness" with us.

I dislike Gailey and hate Campo.

I'm a big fan of Parcells...but sometimes he is too stubborn. Especially with the young players of today.

I already basically stated that I supported the Bryant trade. Just not what we got for him. Try to put words in my mouth all you want, but in the end Parcells gave away a talented player for nothing. I don't care how bad the kid was, you don't give away anything in this league.

It's a shame.

Testaverte didn't trust AB. Simple as that- HE had gotten burned by him in his freelancing and quiting on routes. NO QB is going to willingly toss a ball in the direction of a WR that does that.

For all of the foolishness that Bryant did, he is still on an NFL team. Z. Smith isn't, and he hasn't committed a fraction of distraction.

Both of them will probably be out of the league in a year or two at most.

If you can't get what a player is worth, then you don't trade him. There were numerous ways to deal with the situation, from sitting him out a few games to suspending him for the season.

Like I said before, I don't care that we traded him, I care that we got a bum for him in return. Bryant is going to make Dilfer look good this year. We got rid of a young kid with all the talent in the world for a scrub who couldn't catch a cold. Now we're stuck hoping that a 7th round pick can pick up the slack.

...one thing I know your friend doesn't have a copy of the game. I do. "Repeatedly" is a global exaggeration on your friend's part and I wouldn't be scared to put a play by play test to the claim.

As for what AB does, you clearly must be younger in age because no one here is contesting what AB is capable of doing right now. What we have all been arguing about is how much of a cancer he was when he was a Cowboy.

Much of what AB in 2005 is stems from his experience with Parcells in 2003-04. I have no doubt in my mind that Crennell and Carthon told the punk that this was his last chance in the league. They wouldn't have wasted their time.

The only thing that AB's improved performance will prove is that he was an immature fool, and the league will make sure he is reminded of that when his next contract is up. There will be a definite loss of dollars. As for being a star...who knows, but I highly doubt it.

I wouldn't tie my horse on him being a star. I'd rather pin it to someone who has been a model citizen like Jason Witten. I will give you one bet to ponder. I bet you both Julius Jones and Jason Witten sign bigger contracts than AB will ever see in his life.

Absolutely, getting hit is worse.

Apology?? From AB?? I believe it was reported that he apologised to Parcells (only way to get back on the field) but did not go before reporters and do so himself.

Absolutely, he straightened up when security showed up. He's not crazy.

And are we better?? ABSOLUTELY!!! Read the stuff that came from reporters and especially Dale, regarding his actions and attitude. Poison in the lockerroom and either running the wrong routes or quitting them early if he wasn't the primary receiver. I have no problem continuing the conversation based on facts rather than rosy wet dreams.

BP had to get rid of AB since we had more then enough troubles without putting up with his act. The rest of the league pretty much passed on him- so all we could get was Morgan. THAT tells you the leagues opinion of AB's worth.
