First, you do your homework on the players, their lifes history, speed, size, strength, and then you always take the best player available no matter what.

You never reach for a player, thats when you get in trouble.

But you take best player available, if you then have 3 to 4 players on your draft board when your draft position comes up, and a good trade offer comes along, you listen to the offer and consider it, but you always take the best player available if he fits your system.

I'd trade up if he fell past 20. There's a ton of risk, but this guy could end up being something real special. They made that mistake with Moss, doubt they do it again. JMO.

Now lets say mystically Iupati is there too, Bryant and Iupati are ranked 8 and 9 on our big board with Bryant at 8. But he also has reported issues in the past, and the phone rings with the Rams calling offering their 2nd round pick and their 4th round pick for our pick.

Hang up the phone and write Bryant on the card and turn it in. You can get a guard in the 2nd -4th rounds.

i think thats one of the reasons they are looking at him, remembering the randy moss issue, especially jerry jones.

You just have to do your homework on the player,

The Rams are bending us over in that trade.

Ok, this is what joe does, you get your nfl draft chart trade out, and check value points.

Dallas Cowboys at 2th pick are valued at 680 points
Ok the rams number 2 and 4 are worth as picks 33 and 100 worth
580 and 100 points, which totals up to 680 so equal value

i would then if im a crafty general manager, say, i have detriot or tampa bay on the phone and they are offering me their 2nd, 4th and 5th, i would see if i can sweeten the deal

then i would look at my board and see if i have 7 players on my first round board, that i want, that i can get a good player with the top 2nd round pick, if not, its too far down to move, i would wait and see if someone like colts, vikings or jets call.

If you have only 2 players on your top first round board, you dont want to move down to far, unless the rams offer you something you cant refuse.

thats what joe would do

I really like Bryant, probably as much as anyone, but I don't see how anyone could compare him to Randy Moss, even coming out of college. Even as much as I like him I don't think of him as nearly the superstar in the making that I really believed Moss was going to be.

If a couple of our other targets are still there, and we felt really good about them still being around in the second round, then I could see pulling the trigger on it. But I wouldn't pull the trigger on a luxury player when there are far more important areas to shore up than WR unless I felt real good about what I could do afterwards to shore up those areas.

no, the value is there, in points wise on trade chart, but its too expensive to trade down with just 2 blue chippers on the board, you have to have more or hope the jets, vikings or colts call

you never want to move down to far, you lose players that way

now if iupati and bryant are only ones left on the board,
i would turn to my scouts, ask them their opinion really value it, like my scouts would be DCFanatic, Hostile, woodysgirl, silverbear, biggems,

then the deciding vote would rule. you have to trust your scouts

if after with the interviews with iupait, and bryant say he is too risky, but iupati is the safe pick, you go with safe pick, but if they say in interview, that bryant has shown in last 2 weeks he has grown up, etc, then you take bryant, always take best player available, but always trust your scouts

to me bryant reminds me of a young michael irvin but with some family issues, and we all know micheal had some cocaine or marij isuses

this all goes back to the college coaches, and high school coaches and your scouts that did the interviews, you have to trust them;

If you think held a gun to me, I would take two guys over him at #27 they may be on the board: Iupati and Thomas.

Had Austin not emerged last year, we would be praying that Bryant slipped and WR would be our #1 priority. Alas, it is not.

If Austin hadn't emerged then we would be drafting around 16th, so Bryant wouldn't have to 'slip' so to speak. I still take him now. You're forgetting RW...

He isnt having a private workout for us, just a visit.

That said, taking him depends on who else is available and how high they have the guy rated. If he's the best player on their board, yeah I'd take him in a heartbeat. He doesnt have to start as a rookie to have an impact, we dont have a gaping hole at WR. The guy also has return experience and was pretty good at punt returns.

If we're going WR round 1, why don't we just trade the pick for Marshall? Sure we'd have to give him a new deal, but at least he's been a star at the NFL level and it's not like Bryant's going to be easy/cheap to sign.

Equal value or not, I still don't make that trade. They want something, they'll have to overpay. They are in a rebuilding mode. We aren't.

thats what i was trying to say, its too far to trade down that far and miss out on top2-3 players if thats all thats left on your board, but if they offer you something u cant refuse then you do it, like say their number one 2011, their 2, 4, 5, then you might do it; but it has to be heck of a deal to move that far down. You then, could use your 2nd pick or 3rd in 2011 for example and trade back up in first round to get one of those top players, their ways you can do it, if you get another number one for 2011,then you would have 2 number ones in 2011 to really move up if you have to and get impact player

to me he is too much a head case, he has had issues with shanahan, and now denvers head coach, and he in a way got a football player killed in something he did; too much issue, we dont need a head case on our team, we just got through cleaing out our locker of pacman, T O, tank johnson, greg ellis;etc..

We would be drafting around 5.

Miles Austin is the 2010 season, people that don't relieze that w/o him we lose the KC game, Wade is more than likely fired during the bye week and we in the scope of reality could have gone 2-14.
