Always liked his game and was rated high on my FA list which had about 3 players on it...

Moss was #1 on my list now he to me should be #1 on Jerry's radar.

WR from Zona. I think he could be a solid #2, has hands, speed, he just couldn't crack the lineup in Zona, and we know why.

But over 5 years he has avg. 42 catches and 550 yards a season.
He's 6-3 215 and is only 26 years old......

He'd be a good fit here. Along with the things you mentioned Q, He might be ready, and able, to ascend to a lofty status.

yeah, because he is JAG...he was actually drafted in the first rd the same yr they drafted Anquan Boldin...they spent a top-5 pick on Larry Fitzgerald later because Johnson was a huge disappointment...he had a chance to become something there, he became an afterthought because he just wasnt that good

Not arguing Johnson's worth, but I believe Arizona drafted Fitzgerald because Denny Green was in love with him. One of those situations where it might not have mattered who else was on the roster.

Exactly Fitz was a ballboy for green as a child..

They spent a top 5 pick on Fitz because Fitz is that damn good.

I like Johnson, and I like DJ Hackett too. But both are relative unknowns who are really going to cash in for more than they are worth. Lot of teams out there starving for wrs.

If for some reason those 2 guys don't get the offers they want, I would love getting them on a one year try out deal on the cheap like how Hamlin got here.

oh there's no doubt about Green's love of Fitzgerald, and they made that move in part because he envisioned a dominant 3-WR offense...but Johnson never turned into much of a speed guy, despite having decent speed...he definitely looks the part of a quality WR, but he seems to run mediocre to average routes at best and doesnt have the best hands either

if we went after him (which it doesnt appear we are) it'd only be a decent move IMO if he signed for at o just above the league veteran minimum...

whats with this trend of just making up a WR runs poor routes as being an issue.

there is another board where a lot of the guys are from AZ and the issue with BJ is that he drops passes at the worst possible times and he doesnt always give it his all.

he runs very good routes at best but sometimes doesnt care and will round them off.

Not true, they drafted Fitz a year after getting Bryant Johnson. Hardly enough time to decide whether a player is boom or bust.

They got Fitz because he was simply that good, and the management loved him. Just like the Lions didn't keep drafting WR after WR because they were displeased with Roy Williams, they just kept seeing guys they thought were "one of a kind".

I'd love Bryant on our team and have said so many times. It's hard to crack a lineup including Boldin and Fitz, but everytime one of the two has gone down, Bryant has stepped into the lineup and produced.

I am surprised he hasn't gotten more FA attention. He is young and has some production.

He's a legit 3rd WR that is probably looking for that #2 slot.

Would work well here with Witten as the de facto #2.

Not sure he is the true burner I'd like but he can perform at an NFL caliber level for you and is only 26 and has been very healthy.

If not Walker then Johnson is basically the last WR left, at this point.

There's always the possibility that there will be roster cuts during training camp and perhaps Jerry can pick up someone worthwhile too, right?

Otherwise, as Breer suggests, could be Manningham time

I'd like Johnson here, but these contracts being given out are insane. Maybe a 5 yr/ 17 million, 6 guaranteed, I could live with. If not, therelots of receivers that will be available between the 1st and 3rd rounds of the draft.

I don't think because Bolden and Fitz. are Pro Bowl players means that Johnson isn't good. As someone else pointed out they took Fitz 'cause of the Green influence and how can you pass on him anyway. I watched him play this year when Bolden was out and thought he showed a great deal of tallent. I believe he could be a really good number 2.

Javon Walker basically got the same money that Randy Moss did and that is crazy! (Stupid Raiders!)

I can wait for the draft to get a WR now but still expect us to bring in a lower tier FA for depth.

I agree we should consider Johnson......he is talented with good character.

I guess we'd agree to disagree...IMO Crayton >>> Johnson or any other free agent still left out there...and from an upside basis, I think Austin has more to offer too

I'd rather just wait for the draft than sign someone who clearly isnt an upgrade and would be someone that would need to be replaced next yr...if that doesnt work, there's free agency next yr and Roy Williams...I'd rather save the cap space than sign a JAG like Johnson and waste cap space we could use towards a real upgrade

David

Even before Fitz came to Arizona he was at best inconsistent. IMO he is no better than Crayton and he will cost us alot of money with no improvement. Good depth yes......but we have very limited salary cap space right now and we will need it elsewhere.

I'd rather have him over Crayton, but then again it's going to take me years to get over what Crayton did to us in the playoffs (I still haven't gotten over that Richie Anderson fumble).

Unfortunately we gave Crayton stupid money, so we already have a #3 receiver. We need a #2. We aren't going to find one in the draft. It's either going to be a trade for Roy Williams (which, at this point, now seems unlikely) or ask Deion to come to Valley Ranch and heal Terry's knees. ;)

i would love to see him here but i still want to draft a reciever in th draft

Did you have your coffee this morning? Fitz is a Top 5-7 receiver in the NFL. He is light years ahead of Crayton and to say differently is pretty ridiculous.
