I know this wont be popular around here, but I think he may be a good backup for now. He has a year of NFL under him, no experience but still has been in the NFL for a year. Hes also got a cannon of an arm, and his footwork isnt the worst. Already better than Foles in that department. The Jets snagged Hackenberg from us, and may be willing to unload Petty at less than we have to give up for Glennon. Pretty sure we coveted him last draft as well. Could be a good, cheap option, which SJ loves. Thoughts?

The Chiefs are loaded at QB now and I've heard that Aaron Murray may be available also. The Cowboys were interested in both I believe.

Jets said they will be open to carrying 4 QB's this year. They also see Petty as a 2 year project.

I'd rather have Grayson who we liked last year and he doesnt really excite me either. Grayson is more NFL ready then Petty who is still a project.

The only QB we had interest in in that draft that would interest me is Hundley because he has immense upside

Saying it and doing it are two different things. I don't know about you, but I don't see the Jets actually doing it. More likely, it's a statement made to try to drum up interest for a trade.

This thread is a perfect example of the inflated opinions we have of these quarterbacks in the draft, then they fade into anonymity the moment they arrive.

I was musing today: how many Tony Romos have come and gone because they never got their chance?

I can't argue with your logic if they want an experienced vet to backup.
They need a ready made Vet QB, ....for heavens sake anyone see the turmoil at QB last year. This coaching staff cannot develop veteran QB's alone young projects, like Petty or Grayson or even Geno
