Glennon is about the only one I want at all, but I wouldn't give up too much

Huge Pass....What has Bryce Petty done other than make the Jets cave in and resign Ryan Fitzpatrick and draft another QB this past year... Yet you want Petty stinking it up onthe Cowboys roster??

Dak can handle the backup QB position just fine if thats the case

I was musing today: how many Tony Romos have come and gone because they never got their chance?

A fair number, I'd bet.

The most precious resource for QBs is snaps. In practice, in camp, and in games. And it stands to reason that some of these guys figure things out at a faster rate than others. I'd imagine one of the hardest things to project when drafting a QB is how quickly he'll eventually be able to process information once he understands the pro game. You can't see that in college because the speed and the windows just aren't the same. A guy can have all the tools, or have mechanics you know you can work with, but if he doesn't have the processor, he can't play for you. And he might not have the processor because he's thinking too much. Or he might not have it because he's incapable of processing that much information as quickly as he has to. There's no way of knowing if a guy can do it or not until you draft him and give him the reps. And who gets the reps is determined by who's in front of him. Throw in the fact that different systems fit players differently, and it's a complete crap shoot.

The league needs to let teams carry 3-4 QBs at all times, and it needs to provide resources to develop them. Whether it's augmented reality or roster exemptions, or a developmental league someplace, it makes no sense to have 32 teams and only about 20 starting quality QBs out there and another 20-25 backup quality players. Sure the Dustin Vaughan's of the world will never be world beaters, but if you can keep a guy like that on your roster for 4 seasons or so, get him some snaps in preseason and garbage time each year, maybe you're not looking at starting a guy who's never called plays under center in an early season game anymore if your starter goes down. Watching that crap we trotted out at QB last year for the biggest draw the league has was bad for everybody.

Gotta say I'm liking Dak's attitude. Dude wants it.

I like Dak's attitude and intangibles, too. But he's got way too much work to do to trot out under center this year in a game that counts.

What's it going to be then, eh?

He would be stupid not to. It is not often a third day choice has so little standing in his way to be a heartbeat away from a starting QB job in the league.

I know this wont be popular around here, but I think he may be a good backup for now. He has a year of NFL under him, no experience but still has been in the NFL for a year. Hes also got a cannon of an arm, and his footwork isnt the worst. Already better than Foles in that department. The Jets snagged Hackenberg from us, and may be willing to unload Petty at less than we have to give up for Glennon. Pretty sure we coveted him last draft as well. Could be a good, cheap option, which SJ loves. Thoughts?

If it isn't a"proven" vet, what's the point? May as well just stick with who we got in Dak or Showers.

If we want a good project - Taylor Heineke from Minnesota is my choice. Loved that kid when we played him in preseason last year. Reminded me of a young Romo.

They need a ready made Vet QB, ....for heavens sake anyone see the turmoil at QB last year. This coaching staff cannot develop veteran QB's alone young projects, like Petty or Grayson or even Geno
the thought of Geno Smith at QB for Dallas makes me queasy.

Romo almost never got a chance either. Thankfully Qunicy was a pot head or Romo might have been cut. It's just too bad that Romo's career is winding down and he's probably no closer to a SB than he was back then.....
