Bryson and Rahm shunning PGA Tour?

I always assumed the end of LIV would be a big reunion of golfs best. But it appears the PGA tour is more interested in retribution than what golf fans want to see. Bryson said he's only coming back if the players want him. He's not accepting a Brooks Koepka-like mea culpa deal and neither is Rahm who has said he's fine playing on the DP World tour and trying to qualify for majors.

I really think this is a missed opportunity for the PGA tour which really only has 2 guys (rory and scottie) people tune in to watch and neither are bringing in Tiger-like ratings. Rory skips half the events. Im looking at the Truist yesterday and leader board featured McCarty, Im, Straka.......... I realize they are good players but they cannot carry the viewership numbers required for sponsors to continue investing at current levels.

The Tour needs to stop acting like a jilted lover and get more practical. Strike deals with former major winners and get them back on tour.

Rory was pissed when these guys started dropping off the tour and accepting less money than he was offered (and turned down). But, to his credit, he has recently come around to the idea of letting these guys back in or creating a path for them b/c he knows it's in the best interest of the game. If he was just thinking about himself, he would oppose the extra competition.

On a side note, its incredible how LIV has killed the games of so many great players. The lure of easy money and no pressure tournaments came at a cost. The "Bryson Slam" is now a thing and will be a rare feat: missing the cut at all 4 majors in a calendar year.

They left because they didn't want to put in the same amount of effort to continue being great - or were already trending the wrong direction anyway.

LIV didn't kill anything, it was just a mechanism for those players to check out, so to speak.

Rahm, reed, and Bryson were not "checking out". You can make that argument for some but not all. Mostly it was about money, The fact is that , with rare exception, playing great golf isn't a straight line. Most players go through peaks and valleys of form over their careers. The guys who went to LiV agreed to 8 three day tournaments a year. They gave themselves zero chance to get back to peak levels.

Nah, screw those two. They made a decision and as such, if they want to come back to the PGA, they have to suffer some consequences for their decision.

They both are full of it too............. they'll end up paying a penance to get back once LIV folds, which is likely coming pretty soon. What that penance is, who knows.

PS - I am surprised how many people are surprised that LIV is heading for the rocks. You could see this coming a few years ago. The PIF wasn't going to throw money into a bottomless pit for years.

The only consequence they should suffer is having to earn their PGA tour cards back through qualifying. All tour players have benefitted from LIV not just the ones who left. Just look at the HUGE increase in purses on tour plus revenue sharing that was never available prior to LIV. Every card carrying member of the PGA Tour should thank their lucky stars someone had the balls to try to compete against the PGA and force it to better support its players. Furthermore, these guys are all independent contractors and were never employed by the PGA Tour. There were no broken contracts. They had every right to leave if their was a better offer. They did nothing wrong.

Most fans want to see the worlds best golfers at every tournement and could care less how much money they have in the bank and from where it came.

Yep, and he's also the one on tour who has benefited the most from LIV. Dude's net worth has increased 3-5X since LIV.
