In a sport where many teams struggle to find one worthy quarterback, Jerry Jones says he is thankful to have two capable players at the position.

Amid reports that Tony Romo is looking at other teams to play for in 2017, the Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager said Wednesday morning he's in no hurry to move on from his starter-turned-backup quarterback.

"This is a game, you never know what's going to happen on the next play," he said. "Tony Romo's ready to go."

The Cowboys found themselves in the enviable position of having to choose between Romo and Dak Prescott after the fourth-round rookie stepped in and led the team to a 9-1 record. For this season, that's a good problem to have.

"At the most important position, we like to have that kind of talent," Jones said.

Romo will remain a Cowboy through the season, but Jones was non-committal about the relationship beyond that.

"We want Tony to do everything he can do - and he wants to - to help the Dallas Cowboys win a Super bowl," Jones said.

As much as Jones would like to keep Romo, he likely won't want to spend nearly $20 million on a backup quarterback. Romo is reportedly interested in joining teams like the Denver Broncos and Arizona Cardinals next year.
